    SHE Site Lead

    MAIN JOB PURPOSE:

    The Site SHE Lead has overall responsibility for managing Safety, Health and Environment improvement activities to achieve excellence at site level.  The Site SHE Lead works with site Supply Chain teams to develop the local SHE strategy and improvement plans to achieve sustainable SHE excellence by reducing injuries, illnesses and environmental impact as measured in the core KPIs.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    • Deploy the global/cluster SHE strategy, policy and standards on site to achieve excellent sustainable results.
    • Manage the SHE teams responsible to deliver Safety, Health and Environment results.
    • The Site SHE Lead develops, deploys and implements plans to improve safety, health and environment of the site.
    • Ensures that the UMS Safety and Environmental Pillars together with Unilever FWS are the single ways-of-working (WoW) on site.
    • Ensure that all findings from audits (both internal and external) are effectively implemented by the agreed due dates.
    • Ensure that all prescribed SHE data is delivered in full, is available by the specified due dates at the required quality with supporting documentation available.
    • Monitor site legal compliance and ensure the site meets all local/ national regulatory requirements and Unilever standards
    • Provide advice on national SHE legislation requirements to Site Leaders and implement relevant procedures and policies.  
    • Drive safety and environment risk assessment and develop/implement  appropriate controls.
    • Lead the SHE Pillar in accordance with ManEx.
    • Support the site Supply Chain team to reduce the site’s environmental impact in the areas of COD, hazardous & non-hazardous waste, SOx and CO2 emissions and water & energy consumption.
    • Develop a thorough understanding of the Unilever BBS Program and support deployment in the site.
    • Develop a thorough understanding of the Unilever PSM Program (if applicable to the site PS risks) and support deployment in the site  and support the application of Unilever guidelines and procedures for Process Safety Assessment (SIMAS).
    • Influence senior management and drive safety and environmental leadership through line management.
    • Work closely with Global Health to identify and mitigate risks which may lead to occupational ill health.
    • Assist the Site Leader to develop  and lead the internal crisis committees; support the site leader in leading serious incident investigation and analysis.
    • Ensure on-time reporting of recordable incidents according to UL and legal requirements and advise line management in all accident and incident investigations.
    • Conduct trend analysis from incidents, near misses, safe behaviour observations and deep compliance audits.
    • Develop and deploy internal SHE audits and inspection systems , participate in audits of other Unilever sites as required.
    • Determine training needs and support the delivery of SHE-training programs

    KEY REQUIREMENTS:

    • National Diploma OR Degree BSc in Safety/ Health and Environment
    • 3–5 years relevant experience combined with a strong Process and Mechanical Engineering background preferably within FMCG/ Manufacturing environment
    • Prior Unilever experience
    • Qualifications required by local regulatory authorities
    • Experience in Supply Chain operations (Manufacturing and/or Engineering experience preferred)
    • Proven track record of analytical thinking and project management
    • Excellent knowledge of Unilever and external SHE Standards
    • Influencing skills
    • Good observation and auditing skills
    • Preferred - Advanced Degree in Occupational Health &Safety and Environmental Sustainability
