    SHEQ Officer (4 Months - Fixed Term Contract )

    Role Summary

    • To coordinate and monitor the implementation of the Company's SHE policy.
    • The position ensure that the company and its contractors comply with the requirements of legislation by monitoring employees and contractor SHEQ compliance, attend and report deviation during safety meetings and ensure statutory and regulatory compliance are complied with at intervals specified.
    • To support Site Management to deliver in their Site SHEQ Objectives.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Execute the strategic direction and work priorities (in conjunction with various department management) for the continuous improvement of the factory and sites SHEQ management programme and systems.
    • Conduct and review current risk assessments for Kempton Park, Richards Bay and Cape Town sites and identify risk mitigation measures.
    • Execute all statutory and group requirements with regards to key figures reporting on Gensuite at required intervals.
    • Improve and monitor RRI (Risk Reduction Index) to ensure annual objective as set by the group is realized.
    • Conduct and plan for SHE Committee Meetings and ensure that minutes are drafted, and actions followed through to completion.
    • Attend departments SIM meetings and address safety topics with employees.
    • Order, issue and manage PPE distribution in conjunction with various departmental Managers.
    • Assist in development and implementing of emergency response procedures and evacuation plans on site and offices.
    • Ensure that these plans are reviewed and updated regularly.
    • Assist in scheduling of Gemba walks and follow up on actions for Xylem Kempton Park, Richards Bay & Cape Town.
    • Assist in developing all the required documentation, operational checks and reports for the SHE Management System to be compliant with Xylem Management Systems.
    • Assist Contractor Safety Officer to review and amend Contractor Control procedures and ensure they are aligned with Xylem global expectations.
    • Assist Contractor SHEQ Intern with SHE induction for operations employees, contractors and visitors.
    • Perform any other work as required by the business needs.

    Education and Experience

    • Completed Matric / National senior certificate.
    • Samtrac Certificate or Equivalent Safety Training.
    • Completed National Diploma in Safety Management.
    • Contract Management / Project Management qualification.
    • Minimum 3 years relevant SHE experience within similar industry.
    • Contractor Management experience.
    • Lean/ Six Sigma / World Class Manufacturing exposure.
    • Must be available for four months fixed term contract duration.
