SHER Manager at RCL Foods

• RCL FOODS  is seeking a highly skilled and experienced SHER Manager to join our Groceries Business Unit  based in Randfontein.  The successful incumbent will manage risk, occupational health and safety, environmental compliance. Maintains internal and external stakeholder relationships. To lead SHER teams in driving SHER compliance.

Minimum Requirements

• National Diploma / NQF level 7 (Essential) in Risk Management / Environmental Management / Safety Management / Quality Management/ Food Technology or SHER Safety Management / Environmental Health
• Bachelor’s degree (3 years) / NQF level 7 ( Preferred)
• 6 years’ experience in a Health & Safety / Environmental or Management / Risk Management and SHER Lead auditor, Management System implementation and maintenance.

Duties & Responsibilities    

Leadership, Training & Development

• Demonstrate ownership and accountability, ensure consistent quality and productivity, and communicate effectively regarding task progress and risks.
• Mentor and coach team members, support company values, and champion training and development initiatives.
• Conduct performance appraisals, drive engagement, and maintain communication with teams.

Compliance Management

• Identify and rectify deviations in the Business Management System to conform to relevant ISO (14001 & 45000) and industry standards.
• Schedule and execute audits for various compliance areas, oversee external audit processes, lead investigations and ensure implementation of corrective action.

Strategy Execution

• Work closely with team members to ensure strategic alignment across the organization.
• Drive improvements in SHER processes and systems, and understand market trends and their impact on the organization.

Technical Expertise

• Provide technical, legal, and advisory support to stakeholders, participate in committees, and define company policies on occupational health and safety, and risk management.
• Develop training materials and policy manuals to ensure knowledge transfer.

Project Management

• Manage SHER-related projects and continuous improvement interventions, monitoring project phases against deliverables and resolving bottlenecks.
• Analyze project reports and conduct post-evaluation exercises to determine impact and results.

Supplier Quality Assurance & Contractor Management

• Implement a Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) and contractor management process for all key suppliers.

Incident Reporting & Record Keeping

• Maintain accurate records of incidents and ensure timely investigation, corrective actions and reporting.

Environment Management

• Develop plans to accommodate statutory environmental provisions, manage licenses for water quality and atmospheric emissions, and oversee waste collection and disposal.
• Evaluate environmental impacts of internal changes, monitor trends, and manage external garden services contractors.

Risk Management

• Ensure continuous improvement and risk management through integrated risk management systems (IRMS), maintaining certifications, and improving safety standards.

Security Management

• Manage and support security systems, including managing security providers and overseeing security measures to ensure the safety of premises and personnel.
