Shift Boss: SLC Drilling & Blasting X4 at De Beers Group

Job Description:

• Pursue and drive a culture of zero harm and ensure all aspects of the work are completed in adherence to the De Beers’ Safety, Health, Security and Environmental standards and systems.
• Implement safety, health, environmental and security programs to ensure adherence to relevant policies and procedures.
• Prioritise and assign work to allocated resources to ensure delivery of the mining plan to the required standards within the correct timeframes.
• Gather and analyse relevant information arising from mining activities to compile reports according to departmental procedures and requirements.
• Accountable for managing the individual and team performance of the relevant drilling and Blasting mining crew on site.
• Order and monitor material levels to ensure sufficient availability according to operational needs.
• Communicate operational information and changes to relevant stakeholders to minimise delays in mining activities.
• Continuously analyse relevant mining activities to recommend or implement improvements and changes to maximise outputs.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders of various mining processes to ensure operational optimisation and efficiency.
• Recommend and incorporate cost saving initiatives into budgets and control expenditure within approved parameters.
• Conduct accident and incident investigations according to organisational standards.
• Monitor adherence of service providers according to the scope of work as determined in service level agreements.

Qualifications:
Formal Qualifications:

• Grade 12 / N3 / Equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
• Blasting Certificate for Underground Hard Rock / Equivalent Qualification
• Underground Shift Boss certificate
• A Supervisory qualification would be advantageous
• CBS - Advantageous 

Additional requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years underground mining experience of which at least 2 years must have been Shift Boss in Longhole Drilling and Blasting Section
• Code B Driver’s License
• Required classification as per VTS testing for specific role (orange)
• Medical Certificate of Fitness to work underground
• Computer Literacy

The post is dependent on the successful completion of the Company’s pre-employment protocol such as qualifications’ verification, relevant psychometric assessments and a clear security clearance
