Shift Leader – Press Shop at Defy Appliances

We are currently on a search for a Shift Leader (Press Shop), who will provide support to the Production Manager in ensuring achievement of the Company’s Production Plan

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Take initiative in all matters relating to the successful running of the factory in consultation with the Production Manager.
• Ensuring that hygiene and quality standards are maintained.
• Ensure that work instructions relative to this process as laid out by Quality Management requirements are adhered to and that the products conform to the manufactured specifications and quality standards.
• Be conversant with and ensure compliance with quality assurance standard.
• Manage the shift on duty and supply parts on OTIF basis.
• Complete shift records and report non-conformances to the Production Manager at the end of each shift.
• Educate staff with regards to production capabilities, hygiene, health & safety.
• Encourage teamwork.
• Obey all safety rules and ensure safety regulations are adhered to by all staff.
• Performance management of staff.
• Make correct use of Masakhane meetings for communication.
• Perform other duties as maybe allocated from time to time.
• Adhere to time & attendance Policy.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Matric or equivalent qualification
• Diploma/Degree in Production Management or Industrial Engineering preferable
• Minimum of 3 years 1st line management experience or overseeing of manufacturing crew experience
• Experience in SMED and OEE principles.
• Have a good knowledge of Appliances Manufacturing
• Experience in SCRAP reduction process in Press shop
• Experience in Inventory management and SAP
• Experience in transformation cost reduction exercise
• Have good conflict resolution skills
• Have good knowledge of the Company Disciplinary Code
• Experience in DMAIC implementation process
• Computer literacy and presentation skills
• Have a good understanding of process flow (Press shop, Fabrication, Paint, Enamel and Assembly)
• Experience in Press Tools (setting), transfer systems and tools maintenance process
