    Shift Leader

    PURPOSE

    • This position is part of Operations, reporting to the Plant Operations Supervisor. The Shift Leader is responsible for overall shift performance and operation of the LNG/LHE plant as directed by the Operations Strategy. The incumbent will play a senior role when on shift after hours and will be responsible to communicate any plant related information to the business. The Shift Leader will ensure that the shift achieves stated objectives and that the plant is operated optimally. The Incumbent will be responsible for LNG and LHE production output, troubleshooting, product analysis and Tanker filling. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that safe operation of the plant during shift and any process variations are recorded, and proactive action is taken. Further, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that proper equipment logs are done and that any deviations are reported.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES;

    • Coordinate, control, and monitor all operational activities during a shift to ensure
    • that the Plant production outputs are achieved.
    • Ensure that all operational systems are optimised Perform plant optimisation and ensure that plant required output is achieved.
    • Ensure that all plant logs are recorded correctly, and that Production Report is
    • updated on time.
    • Maintain detailed reports of operations, update process logbooks with activities and
    • process adjustments made, noting any issues encountered and measures taken.
    • Perform Process Optimization and Troubleshooting during plant upset or trip and able
    • to perform plant Start-up or shutdown when required.
    • Conduct continuous inspections of all key process variables, to identify abnormalities.
    • Perform necessary machinery and equipment adjustments, and implement the proper
    • response, including notifying supervisor/manager.
    • Ensure that the products meet required specification, prepare samples for laboratory analysis, and perform quality control analysis.
    • Ensure that the LNG filling scheduling plan is implemented effectively by ensuring that
    • planned road tanker fills are executed.
    • Carry out any specific tasks & instructions as directed by the Production Plant Supervisor.
    • Support SHE objectives by participating in risk assessment, MHI certification, and
    • Business Continuity Plan activities.
    • Participate in and comply with all SHEQ requirements, SHEQ, eliminate incidents, and
    • maintain a healthy working environment.
    • Report all unsafe conditions to Production Plant Supervisor.
    • Comply with all legal requirements.
    • Issue Permits to Work when required.
    • Attend all arranged training when required.
    • Do daily plant equipment inspections and record any equipment issues.
    • Monitor process equipment gas-gathering system, Utilities to ensure that the system is
    • operational and optimized where necessary.
    • Daily inspection of plant equipment and logging of necessary information as directed by
    • shift leader.
    • Carry out any specific tasks & instructions as directed by the Plant Operation Supervisor/Head of Operations and Production.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • S4/ND Chem Eng., BTech Chemical Engineering/Chemistry, Chemical Operations Training level 3.
    • Minimum 3 yrs. working in an Oil/Gas industry or chemical manufacturing plant.
    • Basic understanding of cryogenics technology.
    • In-dept understanding of the continuous operation
    • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Above average numeracy skills.
    • Basic/advance understanding of P&ID, PFD.
    • Basic/advanced Computer skills – be able to monitor different screens at the same time).
    • Ability to communicate effectively and accurately.
    • Ability to multitask during plant operation.
