    Siding/Inventory Manager

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Control of stock, raw materials animal feed ingredients.
    • Receiving and storing of bags, bulk raw materials, premixes, liquids (molasses, CMS) and Voermol packaging (bags stores).
    • Ensure smooth and efficient operation of Siding or raw material plant.
    • Efficiently and effectively supply raw materials to production plant and proper control of all inventories.
    • Ensure compliance with procedure to receive raw materials by Supervisors is performed accordingly in liaising with the line supervisor.
    • When receiving the product load, he or she must ensure that ensure quality and quantity checks are done properly.
    • Check that proper documentation in terms product quality is approved by the   Laboratory.
    • Check if the line supervisors store the raw materials in appropriate place as marked.
    • Ensure compliance of the OSH Act, Quality systems and OSH systems and good housekeeping.
    • Manage FIFO compliance and Raw materials issuing procedure .
    • Liaise with procurement team for raw materials planning and scheduling of deliveries.
    • Ensure compliance with trucks turnaround time from entering the weighbridge to offloading area and back to the weighing out.
    • Manage molasses stock levels from Sugar Maidstone and molasses from other sugar mills to enable acceptable storage in Tanks and bladder.
    • Set and manage line supervisors key performance area as per set standard.
    • Manage and investigate stock variances continuously.
    • Manage monthly stock take and stock losses.
    • Ensure continual improvement of department as a whole.
    • Manage department budget, head counts and overtime.
    • Develop work procedures and closing off all Audit findings and CAR.
    • Ensure proper management of staff and low-level workers.
    • Ensure compliance with the legislations governing workplace.
    • Ensure quality control, procedures are adhered to and communicate to the relevant line managers and continuously review progress.
    • Count checks and reconcile stock on daily basis with daily usages.
    • Manage and control silo stock levels, cleaning, and fumigation of all silos.
    • Approve Siding employees’ time and attendant records in order to ensure adherence to time keeping standards and for payments of salaries.
    • Identify employees training needs and make recommendations to attend training that enable employee to be effective on duty.
    • Attend to Human capital issues and ensure that plant level issues are resolved.
    • Ensure staff leave administered according to Company policy.
    • Attend to all siding department safety related issues and give feedback.
    • Will be required to obtain three quotations, generate purchase requisition, receive invoices, verify against the initial quotation, and sign off.
    • Manage pith from Maidstone and from external mills.
    • Collaboration with procurement on weekly/monthly raw materials requirement.
    • Perform pith reconciliation and facilitate weekly performances with the mills.

    Financial

    • Will manage and control siding department expenses, such as employees’ refreshments orders, necessary working tools or equipment and safety PPE.
    • Manage and control over time expenditure in an effective manner.
    • Controls and agree on budget and provide explanation where there are variances.
    • Control consumption of consumables within production.

    Leadership

    • Ability to plan, organise, control and receive raw materials as per schedule.

    Top 3-6 Accountabilities

    Operations Management

    • Ensure that the department is appropriately resourced.
    • Manage the day to day receiving and issuing of raw materials.
    • Monitor and conduct staff performance and talent identification.

    Planning and Scheduling

    • Ensure that raw material weekly receiving plan is executed accordingly.
    • Plan and rearrange movement of raw materials/ stock rotations as per FIFO procedures.

    Continuous Improvement Projects

    • Identify and initiate projects.
    • Champion, drive and follow-on projects.
    • Monitor project progress, milestones and impact,
    • Manage the change process as a result of the project.

    Safety, health, and environment

    • Participate in safety meeting and provide feedback on area results and progress.
    • Ensure compliance to all requirements.
    • Execute specific actions to address legal compliance requirements, e.g. audit findings to non- conformances, maintenance of training records and skills matrix, checking and verifying training materials is up to date and relevant. etc.

    People engagement, management and development

    • Interact, provide and/ or clarifying instructions and work procedures in relation to the Operations and, checks the implementation and/ or execution of responsibilities.
    • Monitor and conduct, performance and implements corrective measures to align behaviours and activities.
    • Participate in the recruitment process to enable proper identification and appointment of key skills to specific roles within the Department.
    • Identifying training needs and proposing specific training interventions to improve skills and capabilities; Performance Management System applications, conducting performance review sessions with the line management/coordinators.

    Qualifications, Experience and Personal Qualities/Skills

    The ideal candidate would meet the following qualifications and requirements:

    • Grade 12, and Diploma in Supply Chain Management.
    • Minimum of 5 to 8 years managerial skills in an animal feed manufacturing environment.
    • Must have sound knowledge of SAP in materials management (MM).
    • Computer skills/literacy
    • Be able to work efficiently as a self-starter, possess integrity, reliable, assertive and a good team player.
