PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The purpose of a housekeeping warehouse operator is to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in operational areas, ensuring a safe and organized environment. They are responsible for cleaning and removing stretch wrap, as well as managing waste disposal and restocking cleaning supplies. By fulfilling these responsibilities, housekeeping warehouse operators contribute to the overall efficiency and safety of the warehouse operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•  Cleaning and maintaining cleanliness in operational areas of the warehouse, including floors, aisles, shelves, and workstations. This involves sweeping, mopping, and removing debris or spills to ensure a safe and tidy environment.
•  Removing stretch wrap or packaging materials from products or pallets to facilitate efficient access to goods and prevent any potential safety hazards.
•  Emptying trash receptacles and waste bins, ensuring proper disposal of garbage and recyclable materials according to established protocols.
•  Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, break rooms, and common areas to maintain hygiene standards and provide a clean and comfortable environment for warehouse personnel.
•  Dusting and wiping down surfaces, equipment, and fixtures to maintain a clean and organized appearance throughout the warehouse.
•  Monitoring and restocking cleaning supplies, such as detergents, disinfectants, and paper products, to ensure availability for ongoing housekeeping tasks.
•  Communicating any maintenance or repair needs observed during housekeeping activities to the appropriate personnel to facilitate prompt resolution.
•  Collaborating with other warehouse staff and supervisors to coordinate housekeeping tasks efficiently and support overall warehouse operations.
•  Following established housekeeping procedures and regulations to maintain compliance with relevant health and safety standards.
•  Adhere to 'a place for everything and everything in its place' principles wiht regards to cleaning materials and tools.
•  Adhering to safety guidelines and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when performing duties to mitigate potential risks.
•  Establishing and fostering a safe work environment and overall safety compliance.
•  Operate within safety standards.
•  Attend and participate in meetings and support the team in achieving the goals of the operation.
•  Attend coaching and training.
•  Contribute to the overall achievement of the team's goals.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or equivalent qualification.
• Proven experience of at least 2 years in a similar position, with a preference for experience within the FMCG Retail industry.
