    About the job

    Summary:

    To learn, develop and shadow on overall accountability for total regional performance. Groom skills sets into management of store operations, provides direction for the implementation of strategic decisions and sales & marketing activities to ensure planned revenues are achieved whilst working within budgeted costs

    FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Regional Strategy

    • Understand business vision and develop regional strategy in line with Wholesale cash and carry strategy and targets
    • Analyse regional demand expectations, match to regional capacity and ensure resources i.e. stock, infrastructure, human capital,
    • facilities and budget are in place to achieve set targets
    • ICU rescue plans to ensure recovery to align with national strategy
    • Ensure resource planning and sales drive to ensure store sales leverage
    • Cascading of regional strategy down to store to branch manager level

    Regional Operations

    • Implement an annual regional business / operational action plan that will achieve regional targets
    • Ensure that all relevant role players understand the targets & action plans
    • Utilise standard performance models to measure regional performance against targets and take corrective action where required
    • Financial Models: Sales – Appropriate customer focus & acquisition; appropriate promotional activity; appropriate range extension / categories; franchise. Margin.
    • Customer profitability; pricing and promotional activity. Expenses – monitoring of all categories.
    • Working Capital model: Creditors, stock on hand, debtors and nett working capital
    • Drive revenue and category growth in the region by implementing, measuring and managing sales and patronage action plans

    Regional Budget

    • Compile a comprehensive capital and operational budget indicating expected regional operating revenue and expenses
    • Manage the compilation of budgets per function and at store level and consolidate to a final regional budget
    • Implement and monitor expenditure against budget to ensure spending remains within the set parameters
    • Formulate action plans to address deviations from budget

    People Management

    • Drive and monitor regional employment equity targets against MCW EE Plan
    • Engage in Talent Management – Recruitment, Succession Planning & Pipeline development, Performance Management
    • Develop Individual Development Plans to enable employee career plans
    • Manage non-performance through performance process

    Manage Team Delivery based on performance plans

    • Foster team building
    • Ensure that the training, development and motivation of staff in the region is implemented as well as coach and mentor store
    • managers to ensure that all staff are encouraged to maximize their capability and contribution
    • Ensure optimum staffing levels are maintained – Implement Ideal Store Structure

    Self-Management

    • Demonstrate consistent application of internal policies and procedures
    • Escalate identified problems to relevant business managers
    • Promote harmony and teamwork
    • Promote sharing of knowledge through informal and formal channels
    • Apply knowledge of the organisational systems, structures, policies and procedures to achieve strategic objectives

    Requirements:

    • Commercial degree, preferably with Sales or Retail background.
    • Minimum 5 years related wholesale Management experience.
    • 8 years in Wholesale and Retail Operations Environment
    • 3 years at Management Level.
