The job

The Social Housing Portfolio Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing a portfolio of properties within the social housing sector, while achieving the set financial and impact targets.

This role involves ensuring the efficient and effective management of social housing units, both regulated and unregulated, maintaining compliance with relevant regulations, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance the overall quality of housing services provided.

• We're seeking a spirited go-getter with a proven track record of over 3 years in property portfolio management or 5 - 8 years’ experience in general property management with a deep knowledge of the residential property market.
• You’ll have knowledge of relevant housing laws, regulations and policies in South Africa including the Social Housing Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Act as well as a strong knowledge of contract management and ability to develop and manage budgets.

Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 

• Relevant commerce or property or other related fields degree/diploma
• Proven experience in property management, preferably in the social housing sector:
• 3 years’ experience in property portfolio management or
• 5 to 8 years relevant experience in general property management
• Experience in leading team

Other skills required:

• Deep experience and knowledge of the residential property market
• Knowledge of relevant housing laws, regulations, and policies in South Africa, including the following:
• Social Housing Act and Regulations
• Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Sound knowledge of contract management and cost budgeting
• Strong financial management skills and the ability to develop and manage budgets
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for tenant and stakeholder engagement
• Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Familiarity with property management software and tools
