    Social Media Manager

    Angama Mara is recruiting for the position of Social Media Manager, an exciting opportunity for an experienced storyteller, content creator, and community manager to lead the day-to-day management of Angama’s social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter). Set in Kenya’s Maasai Mara, Angama Mara has been internationally recognized by numerous global publications and awards and now, in its seventh year of operation, is positioned for exciting growth.

    The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded individual who:

    • Can naturally assimilate into the Angama brand, reflecting our core values in their behavior and work: Respect, Honesty, Courage, Joy & Ubuntu
    • Is a digital-first native: thinks in Instagram and Facebook day-in and day-out
    • Is a natural storyteller, curious about the world and in love with safari Africa
    • Sees every follower as a guest and believes in our philosophy of guest delight, running a profitable business and making a meaningful impact
    • Is well-travelled (ideally internationally, but most importantly within Kenya and East Africa) and can comfortably identify with Angama’s diverse online community
    • Has a strong grasp of written English and knows when to be serious and when to be light-hearted when communicating online

    The role’s primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Nurturing the storytelling heart of the brand, in the Angama voice
    • Creating content plans to engage and grow Angama’s following with key audiences in key themes
    • Balancing the sharing of real-time goings-on at the lodge (game drives, videos) and the more purposeful brand-driven stories from the guest experience to the people of Angama
    • Working closely with the lodge team and on-property Photographic Studio to capture content and funnel into the right platform
    • Engaging with our audience, replying to comments, responding to DM’s and ushering enquiries
    • Monitoring mentions and tags for reposting, allowing guests and the industry to help speak for us
    • Reporting on performance against objectives and finding ways to improve our content efforts
    • In touch with goings on in our industry and East Africa travel in general
    • Staying up to date on trends, benchmarks, new technologies and algorithm changes

    Candidates who meet all of the following requirements will be at a distinct advantage:

    • 3+ years of experience in the social media space, particularly in travel/safari
    • Educated to a tertiary level in marketing/communications
    • Excellent written communication skills
    • Kenyan nationals, residents
