    Software Development & Solution Architecture Manager

    The role is responsible to develop and implement systems architecture that will meet business needs, which include assessing design of software, coordinate and oversee technical standards, including software coding standards, tools, and platforms.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Relevant Computer Programming Qualification / Certification essential      
    • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field highly advantageous       
    • MA in Engineering, Computer Science or similar relevant field would be advantageous

    Minimum Experienced Required:

    • 12 years' + experience within a development role
    • 5 + years’ experience within a solution architecture role
    • 3 years’ experience in leading a team
    • 4 years' experience in using relational databases
    • 3 years’ experience in microservice architecture

    Architectural Experience

    • 5 years' experience in applying JEE / Spring / Hibernate
    • 5 years’ experience with layered applications with decoupled presentation, business and storage layers
    • Experience in hardening applications against security best practice
    • Experience in solution architecture within cloud infrastructure like AWS or Azure

    Development Technologies

    • 7 years' experience in applying Java Core
    • 5 years' experience in applying JEE / Spring / Hibernate
    • 4 years' experience in applying Angular 2+
    • Experience in applying Flutter would be advantageous
    • Experience with Docker & Kubernetes and CI/CD
    • 4 years' experience within a DevOps environment, having had exposure to deployments, builds, managing servers etc. And working with cloud-based platforms
    • Experience in working in an agile environment would be advantageous

    Responsibilities:

    • Taking ownership of  future development which will include the relevant technologies above, building next generation products
    • Continually researching current and emerging technologies and proposing changes where needed
    • Building and integrating information systems in line with business strategy
    • Assessing the systems architecture currently in place and working with technical staff to recommend solutions to improve it.
    • Resolving technical problems as they arise, while enhancing the current SDLC policies
    • Informing various stakeholders about any problems with the current technical solutions being implemented.
    • Maintain a register of technical debt with associated risk mitigation initiatives and be the sole risk owner of solution architecture
    • Providing updates to stakeholders on product development processes, costs, and budgets.
    • Providing supervision and guidance to development teams.
    • Skills and knowledge transfer within team
    • Build a strong quality assurance department.
    • Represent the technological agenda in staff meetings and when making hiring decisions
    • Monitor team’s KPIs and to assess technological performance
    • Track, analyse and monitor development team’s productivity.
    • In conjunction with HR, recruit, hire, onboard and ensure continuous development of the team     
    • Define roles and responsibilities within the team ensuring that objectives are understood and accomplished      
    • Delegation of tasks and projects to team members   
    • Facilitation of team meetings with set agenda points      
    • Regular one on one meetings with team memberso   
    • Coach and mentor team members in order to reach team and organizational objectives 
    • Meetings are minuted and uploaded onto central access point       
    • Conduct performance reviews with team members   
    • Ensure that performance measures are defined in line with organizational objectives and any performance issues are addressed, and measures are put into place to improve performance      
    • Conduct, manage and monitor any disciplinary processes within team, in conjunction with HR
    • Provide monthly reports to CIO and other stakeholders as to performance of the team in executing tactics to realize and meet agreed strategy
    • Appraise all stakeholders as to performance of technology operations as per agreed SLA
    • Stakeholders are kept updated / informed on progress as per roadmap and any risks are mitigated / appropriate resolutions in place
    • Immediate escalation to relevant stakeholders if material technology risks are identified  
    • Play an active role with internal and external focus groups
