    Solution Engineering Manager

    Role Headline

    Implements Engineering policies and guidelines, manages and coordinates all Engineering activities within the Smart Infrastructure Business. Implements guidelines and defines functional specific policies, processes or methods to fulfil the superior Engineering strategy.

    Responsibilities of the Role

    • Manages teams of professionals working Engineering, software development and project management
    • Performs capacity planning based on business forecast to ensures optimal balance of resource availability and utilisation
    • Implements competence management process to ensure availability of required skill sets
    • Ensures consistent implementation of company standards, policies and procedures across all customer projects
    • Drives implementation of engineering and project management tools to continuously enhance productivity, quality, and responsiveness of the organisation
    • Leads and motivates the engineering and project management teams to achieve best-in-class project performance
    • Allocates resources to projects to be executed by the organisation
    • Regularly reports on project performance metrics
    • Regularly reports on organisational operational metrics
    • Regularly reports on organisational financial metrics
    • Responsible for all human resources processes associated with managing and developing the organisation
    • Monitors project and engineering performance and proactively takes action to address deviations
    • Drives the adoption of new tools, technologies and processes in line with the company’s Digitalization strategy
    • Leads project members to act according to the Business Conduct Guidelines following the rules (e.g. tax regulations, delegation of employees, guarantees and export control)
    • Sets necessary measures to ensure zero harm policy in environment, health and safety
    • Involves the necessary corporate governance units
    • Complies to local standards and law of countries directly affected
    • Ensures the overall quality of works, products and deliverables

    Qualifications And Experience

    • Relevant tertiary Degree/Diploma, preferably an Electrical Engineering qualification or similar.
    • Must be ECSA registered
    • 8-10 years relevant experience within the EPC Environment
    • A South African recognised Project Management qualification or PM@siemens certification (Advantageous)
    • Demonstrated experience in managing a diverse team of professionals within the engineering or project management fields

    • Advanced interpersonal skills
    • Strategic thinking with the understanding of financial matters
    • Ability to lead virtual project team/s to a successful implementation across countries.
    • Excellent intercultural skills to cooperate with customers throughout sub-Saharan Africa.
    • Must be willing to travel.
