Specialist: Commercial Pricing and Analytics at Vodacom

Role Purpose

• To support the Consumer Business Unit (CBU) teams with respect to Prepaid, Postpaid and Fixed products.
• To provide ad-hoc and ongoing analysis to support pricing reviews and frameworks in-line with overall business strategy
• To provide high-level financial models and collaborate with objective business functions to support product deployment, removal or adjustments
• To ensure all aspects of incumbent pricing frameworks or amendments thereto are being applied in other areas of the commercial business unit.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Specialist pricing and operations support to CBU teams
• Derive and communicate insights obtained from reporting and analytics
• Support the various contract CBU teams with pricing related activities
• Perform high level financial modelling
• Review performance trends and identify opportunities on an on-going basis
• Determine and review price elasticity for products and services
• Define pricing frameworks and strategies based on supply & demand, costing, regulatory and competition factors
• Provide valuable pricing insights and analysis
• Provide pricing input to detailed financial models and budget/forecasting processes

The Ideal Candidate For This Role Will Have

Must have technical/professional qualifications:

• Relevant BSc. or BCom. Mathematics, Commerce, Statistics, Econometrics or relevant degree essential and
• A minimum of 3 – 5 years working experience essential in:
• Commercial and/or Finance and/or Analytics essential
• At least 2 years in pricing and/or financial modelling and/or data analytics essential
• Experience in programming (Python; VB; R; Matlab; etc)
• Understanding of pricing strategies and principles
• Mobile communication experience an advantage
• Essential

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

• Proficient SQL User - ESSENTIAL
• Analytical thinking and experience
• Proficient user of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Experience in other coding languages (Python, R, VB) will be an advantage
• Reporting And Analytical Experience Essential
• Understanding of relevant Pricing practices advantageous
• Telecoms experience will be an advantage

Job Knowledge

1. Previous pricing experience will be beneficial
2. Development an in depth understanding of contract revenues and direct costs
3. Understand elasticity and market trends within the prepaid segment
4. Advanced skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
5. Advanced SQL Skills Is ESSENTIAL
