Specialist : Core Next Generation at Vodacom

Role Purpose

Evaluation and implementation of new technologies predominantly within the Core Network Engineering Domain.Key Technology Domains: Subscriber Data Management (SDM), IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), Policy Management & Telco over Cloud (ToC).
 

Your responsibilities will include:

• Evaluation and implementation of new core network technologies including VoLTE, SDM, policy management and related services/solutions in a ToC environment.
• Interface with and maintain productive relationships with vendor project management, vendor Engineers as well as other divisions in Vodacom.
• Conduct research and give input to department strategy in terms of new core network technologies (long and short range planning).
• Actively manage core network capacity for key technology domains to stay within threshold and appropriately raise flags to management.
• Compiling/Reviewing of tender documents / technical reports.
• Understanding of Products and Services offered by Vodacom.
• Integration and testing of new Products and Services offered by Vodacom.
   

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

• Matric/Grade 12 (or SAQA accredited equivalent).
• Minimum 3-4 year diploma or degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
• 3-5 years working experience in telecommunications, with a minimum 2-3 years experience in Mobile Core Networks in the following areas is essential:
• Specific working knowledge of GSM, UMTS, LTE, Subscriber Data Management (Provisioning, LDAP, XML, etc.) and IMS in a VoLTE/VoWiFi context.
• 5G knowledge would be beneficial.
• Must have a good knowledge and understanding of SS#7, SIP and DIAMETER protocols and associated call flows.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Internet Protocol (IP) is required.
• Must be prepared to travel when required.
