Specialist: Export at BMW Group South Africa

Purpose of the Job

• Responsible for export process. Statistical reporting and system monitoring to ensure that a continuous and uninterrupted flow of vehicles and information are maintained in the import and export distribution process. Also ensure feedback information to BMW regions, regional offices and markets regarding distribution status, tracking and shipment confirmation from export systems. Daily liaison with shipping lines and transport companies.

Key accountabilities of the function

• Communication of operational instructions to service providers.
• Maintenance of export market master data file.                                                       
• Line responsibility for co-ordinating the activities of the Export Administrator and the dealer Liaison within the department. Statistical reporting on carrier movement.
• Coordinate export vessel bookings and shipments to international markets.
• Update and maintain VDC KPIs and monthly stock reports.
• Make operational decisions for fallback scenarios related to vehicle shortages and transport delays.
• Provide input to import/export-related project teams for distribution and IT improvements.
• Ensure timely feedback to BMW AG regions, regional offices, and markets regarding distribution status, tracking, and shipment confirmation.
• Creating, updating and maintaining Local VDC IT reporting systems in T-Cube.
• Chairing of daily In-yard service provider logistics meetings.
• Weekly VDC movement status tracking and reporting to TX-R-15.
• Quiss II audit updating and closings out.
• Coordinate and manage yearly stock counts with auditors to ensure correctness of VDC stock system.
• Arrange off site scrapping of vehicles from VDC.
• Update, Maintain and Monitoring of D2D & Compound dispatch for local vehicles to ensure NRSM (New Retail Sales Model) are on time. Monitoring and managing of transport related delays. Monitoring and updating the export system to include all active and new export markets.

Education:

• National Diploma in Business Management /Commerce or Higher Certificate in International Trade.

Work experience, Leadership experience

• 3 years’ business experience and knowledge about Export Distribution and Logistics
• 3 years field experience in the export industry working with freight forwarders and companies

Additional skills: special skills / technical ability etc.

Computer skills: Fully literate in Microsoft office software E-mail, SAP, Vehicle Management System, relevant Export systems.

• Logistical skills to understand transport and the shipping industry
• Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues promptly
• Other skills: TQube, VDC systems and BMW corporate systems.
• High degree of fluency enabling interaction at all levels within the organisation.
• Knowledge of Quality control, SPC, ISO9001, ISO45001, ISO 14001 OHSAS act.
• Ability to manage Service Providers at all levels of management.
