Specialist: Network Optimization at Vodacom

Role Purpose

• The main objective of Strategic Network Optimization is to orchestrate network tactics and strategies aimed at increasing network and RAN efficiency and performance. The role also entails driving and implementing various activities and special projects to improve network quality through the optimization of Radio Access Networks (RAN) and RATs(GSM, UMTS, LTE, and NR). The role entails the incumbent embracing the use of modern approaches and best global practices mainly in the RAN domain for maximum impact.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Continuous review of RAN network strategies, using RAN parameters, features, and best practices aimed at improving RAN effectiveness and efficiencies.
• Ensure adoption of global best practices and adapt them where applicable for optimal system performance within South Africa.
• Drive proactive stakeholder engagements (optimization and vendor meetings), propose feature and parameter enhancements in the SON and RAN space for improved efficiencies
• Assist to build capacity in data-driven analytics for strategic RAN optimization activities, including scripting, knowledge transfer, etc
• Give cross-functional support to regions in terms of in-depth network analysis, accelerate fault resolution, and assist in CxO escalations of RAN issues and investigations.

Ideally You Should Possess The Following

• Matric/ Grade 12 is essential.
• 3-year degree/diploma in electronic or telecommunication, equivalent or higher.
• 3-5 years of relevant GSM and UMTS experience (inclusive of 1-2 years of LTE experience) is essential.
• 3-5 years of working experience in Radio Planning and Optimisation (Essential).
• Experience with UMTS/LTE technologies would be advantageous (Desirable).
• Telecommunications (GSM & UTRAN) courses are essential.
