Steel Commodity Trader (Physical Trading) at Hire Resolve

Description:

• Hire Resolve's Client is currently looking for an experienced Steel Commodity Trader (Physical Trader) to join their mining company based in Gauteng. You will be responsible for supporting the trading and movement of steel products across Southern Africa, including overland trade, imports and exports via sea freight where applicable.

Responsibilities:

• Execute physical trading activities of steel products across Southern African markets.
• Coordinate overland trade between South Africa and neighbouring countries.
• Support import and export shipments, including sea freight where required.
• Liaise with suppliers, buyers and logistics providers to facilitate trade execution.
• Assist with pricing, quotations and trade negotiations.
• Monitor market information and identify potential trading opportunities.
• Coordinate logistics and assist in resolving cross-border shipment issues.
• Ensure accurate processing of trade transactions from order to delivery.
• Maintain compliance with relevant trade and customs requirements.
• Travel frequently to support trading activities and client engagement.

Requirements:

• Grade 12
• Degree in Business, or a technical degree related to the iron and steel industry.
• 5–8 years’ experience in physical steel trading and overland trade within Southern Africa.
• Strong understanding of steel products and raw materials.
• Proven experience managing cross-border logistics and trade flows.
• Established network of suppliers, buyers and logistics providers in the region.
• Strong commercial negotiation and relationship management skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively and on short notice.
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans.
