    Store Development Manager

    Introduction

    Provide the link between Foods, RED & Stores to ensure the successful execution of Foods SDP as well as small works projects, equipment & initiative rollouts & rollbacks and any other Store Development projects.

    Job description

    • Provide input in Foods Store Format strategy (store format blueprints, service counters & category concept models) to agreed update cycles. Manage updates to completion with RED & R&L (architects).
    • Drive Foods strategy & results by working closing with RED project management to ensure all SDP projects (new, extended, relocated stores & food outlets) are executed & enabled in line with the Foods strategic intent & category strategies.
    • Brief, sign off, provide direction & manage all small works projects through the system including business wide communication & store support (includes initiative & equipment rollouts and roll backs).
    • Responsible to plan & agree project plans & phasing programs with RED PMs & equipment teams & to ensure that all projects are delivered on-time and within scope.
    • Effectively manage conflicting deadlines for multiple competing project priorities in a timely manner, influencing, directing & instructing on site adjustments & trade offs as required.
    • Integrate across Foods, RED project managers, site construction & installation personnel as well as stores & regional teams & determine actions to resolve conflict and/or risk as well as root cause to ensure future conflicts can be proactively anticipated & resolved.
    • Represent Foods Selling at site, small works & progress meetings with RED project managers, construction managers & store and regional teams (pre & post launch).
    • Support store & regional teams onsite both pre & post launch (including follow up of snags completion).
    • Deliver “ready to merchandise” sites to the Store & Foods teams in line with Foods & category selling strategies.
    • Communicate & conduct cyclical equipment rationalisation cycles with RED equipment & warehouse teams identifying obsolete equipment pieces for disposal & removal from the catalogue.
    • Screen, manage & execute General Capex spend & deliver same within budget.
    • Mentor & coach stakeholders (RED project management & store personnel) as required in the associated processes & procedures.
    • Provide & serve as a subject-matter expert (SME) internally and externally, as needed, for project implementations and specific processes. 

    Minimum requirements

    • Food Industry interest, knowledge & understanding
    • Seven (7) years relevant retail management experience in FMCG
    • Experience in Foods Retail Space & Display Management
    • Team player with proven ability in people management
    • Practical & determined
    • Willingness & availability to travel
    • Strategic & Operational thinking with strong problem-solving skills & the ability to understand cause of problem & develop workable solutions.
    • Relationship Building & Team Leadership, the ability to build & maintain constructive relationships by active involvement & integration across all WW BU’s & levels of work.
    • Conflict & Risk Mitigation, the ability to effectively manage conflicting deadlines for multiple competing project priorities in a timely manner, influencing, directing & instructing adjustments & trade offs as required
    • Project Management, the ability to deliver an effective, efficient and consistent approach to objective.
    • Brand Management, the ability to grow and uphold the values of the Woolworths Brand by delivering on our promises with quality, reliability and consistency.        
    • Retail Space & Display Management, the understanding of Geo, Macro & Micro space parameter and their relationship to scalability of solutions.
    • Range & Catalogue Management, the understanding of range construction, analysis and performance.
    • Selling Process Integration, the understanding of store processes and resultant impact of decisions
    • Industry Understanding, the ability to interpret industry processes, influences and complexities.      
    • Communication & influencing skills, the ability to integrate with and influence key stakeholders at all levels.
