    Sub Regional Procurement Manager

    SGS South Africa is seeking to fulfil a key role in the SGS Southern Africa Financial Services department. The role includes the active participation in the SGS procurement strategy, liaising with the various business stakeholders, global category managers, wider procurement organization and external suppliers. Adapt to changing environment and contribute to the growth and compliance of all countries in the Sub-Region (South Africa, Zambia, DRC, Mozambique and Angola)

    Primary Job Responsibilities

    Reporting to the Sub - Regional Finance Controller, you in the role, are expected to:

    •    To proactively work with managers to rapidly identify major procurement opportunities within the businesses and promote the procurement culture across all levels of operation.
    •    Promote the Procure to Pay Oracle system guidelines & procedures to ensure purchase orders are raised compliantly, effectively and on a timely basis.
    •    Manage spend visibility pipeline and promote the culture of recording savings made by the region.
    •    To work with managers and negotiate contractual arrangements with suppliers to ensure that value for money and excellent service levels are maintained wand optimized across all categories of expenditure.
    •    Support  the buyer role in Oracle, challenging new supplier set up, challenging requisitions as they are converted to purchase orders and analyzing spend with incumbent suppliers
    •    To support a continuous improvement and the procure to pay process ensuring that costs can be monitored, reviewed, controlled and in line with Finance procedures.
    •    Ensure contracts are completed for the majority of expenditure and include appropriate reference to SGS policies eg  SLAs, continuous improvement, health and safety, sustainability, Bribery Act, Modern Slavery and payment terms as well as appropriate protection for SGS in the event of non compliance or service delivery issues.
    •    Support the identification and creation of supplier catalogues on Oracle for the majority of spend.
    •    To design appropriate reporting and monitoring mechanisms that identify cost savings by category, business and site / branch.
    •    Provide support to the business or lead (as appropriate) on negotiations of contractual terms with suppliers to ensure value for money and excellent service levels are maintained and optimized across all categories of spend.
    •    Identify supplier synergies between Group suppliers, local branches and the company acquisitions.
    •    Oversee the BBBEE Procurement spend and Supplier & Enterprise Development strategies to maintain or improve SGS South Africa’s current BBBEE level.
    •    Maintain as applicable SGS’s tools for contract and supplier management.
    •    Gain a good understanding of the purchasing undertaken across the SGS Group, identify and deliver procurement savings benefiting the wider Group and contributing to targets.
    •    Ensure payment terms are managed and optimized in favor of SGS.
    •    Support the businesses in monitoring suppliers' performance in line with KPIs, contractual obligations and service level agreements.
    •    Manage the delivery of timely, accurate and relevant procurement reports.
    •    To produce other procurement and supplier information and analysis which supports the SGS in achieving continued value, creativity, quality, operational efficiency and sustainability in the entire supply chain and highlights areas where the performance can be improved.
    •    To develop productive relationships with operational managers and circulate regular procurement updates with a view to further developing and raising the procurement culture and awareness across the business.
    •    Support the Finance Department in the completion of tasks or projects associated with the efficient and timely delivery of the department.
    •    Ensure full compliance with the Company’s Code of Integrity & Code of Conduct.
    •    At all times, adopt a safe behavior by exercising due regard for the health and safety of yourself, colleagues and clients, in line with the Company’s policies and procedures.

    Qualification and Experience

    •         Minimum Tertiary qualification
    •         CIPS - advantageous
    •         8+ years within Procurement & Supply Chain
    •         3+ years in a Management role
    •         Proven experience in liaising with many stakeholders.
    •         International Procurement and logistics experience across various countries in Southern Africa – advantageous
    •         Experience in the mining, engineering or laboratory environment - advantageous
    •         English fluent. Any other language an asset
    •         Drivers license and own car
