Duties and responsibilities: 

• Provide academic leadership by executing strategies to establish the department as a leader in the field of Sociology.
• Maintain and strengthen ties with the Bloemfontein branch of the Sociology Department.
• Contribute to the overall leadership in the department and faculty.
• Active participation and involvement in applicable Faculty and UFS management structures.
• Contribute to the initiation, formulation and implementation of a visionary academic stratgy for the department.
• Develop and maintain a visionary research strategy for the department.
• Build an effective team of scholars.
• Encourage and actively support academic staff members to apply for external research and other grants

Inherent requirement

• A PhD on NQF Level 10 in Sociology.
• Full-time, permanent member of the academic staff of the Department of Sociology at the University of the Free State, Qwaqwa Campus.
