Orica is excited and proud to announce a new long term blasting partnership with our customer De Beers Group at their iconic Venetia Mine operations, which contributes 40% of South Africa's annual diamond production.
As a result of this exciting partnership, we are searching for a Supervisor – for the Ammonium Nitrate Emulsion Manufacturing Plant who will assume responsibility of overseeing the shift-based production team with responsibility for meeting the daily, weekly and monthly production plans to ensure quality product is available as required to satisfy the S&OP and assumes overall accountability for operations at the mining operation.
The Plant Supervisor will be based on-site at Venetia Mine, which is in the Northern Transvaal, 32km south of the Limpopo River in the Limpopo Province South Africa.
This opportunity will suit a pragmatic and analytical individual with incredible organisational skills, has inclusive and well-developed leadership skills, and is excellently versed on manufacturing excellence and prioritise safety.
What you will be doing
Ensuring product produced meets the quality and volume requirements hourly and daily;
Responding to and communicating deviations from production plans (including plant trip notification updates/timelines);
Ensuring Plant operation is always within the safe operating window as defined;
Ensuring non-compliances are reported for investigation and resolution;
Ensuring Plant operation time maximised within the defined efficiency operating window;
Ensuring efficient use of raw materials and delivering Process Planning as an integrated component of Maintenance Planning and Scheduling;
Executing the planned and unplanned preparation of the plant, including the necessary permit to work processes, to allow safe and efficient maintenance execution (including shutdowns);
Conducting regular scheduled and unscheduled plant equipment and general inspections and formalise outcomes and actions;
Managing the plant operators and their engagement and motivation which includes ensuring their training and development, performance management, reward and recognitions etc;
Managing of overtime and related approvals of the production shift teams;
Joining the Production Superintendents/Supervisors CoP (Community of Practise) with the purpose of collaborating on best practise and the improvement agenda relevant to the position and its requirements;
Providing a work environment that encourages individuals to be self-motivated;
Representing the production operations team on the Production Management team and drive a culture of continuous improvement in the shift operations team.
Driving safety and quality culture within the team to deliver excellent quality products to the customer.
What you will bring
Minimum 7 years’ experience post qualification;
Experience leading a team, including building a collaborative approach;
Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with a range of stakeholders;
Strong strategic and commercial acumen supported by sound commercial judgement;
Ability to plan, influence & execute;
Strong written and verbal communication skills to present strategic logic and recommended pathways, coupled with the ability to present to key stakeholders.
