Supervisor - Technical Infrastructure Technology Information at MTN

Supervisory / Leadership / Managerial Complexity:  Refers to the responsibilities for directing, guiding, motivating  and influencing others.

• Service and cost control focused.
• To provide specialised electrical and mechanical knowledge and advice.
• Supervise contractor work carried out on the technical facility.
• Supervise security, cleaning and facility activities

Role Complexity: 

• Ensure security staff is fully trained in access and emergency evacuation procedures.
• Contractors working on site are inducted in terms of OHS Act.
• Cleaning staff is carrying out their duties.
• Lateral Dimensions: These indicate the areas where the individuals could contribute uniquely in addition to the indicated duties, as well as how they could be affected by others or circumstances not necessarily under their control.
• Creativities (improvement/innovation inherent)  Indicates the potential for improvement and / or innovation inherent in a position.
• Quality and cost reduction focused.
• Display innovative skills and initiative
• Provide a cost saving plan for consumable consumption at the Regional facilities – including Switches, Remote Hubs, Data Centres and BTS sites.
• Be proactive on energy saving initiatives.

• Lack of the entire Network integrity 
• Influence of network reliability on sales and marketing efficiencies 
• Network power and mechanical failures at Switches, Remote Hubs, Data Centres, BTS & Corporate Facilities
• No work can proceed without an official MTN order. 
• Budget constraints.

Discretionary Space:

• Make decisions on relatively minor issues however decisions on major issues will be made in consultation with the Technical Infrastructure Operations Manager or Regional Network Manager.

Authorities:

• Reactive and proactive management and fault resolution.
• Hands on management and managing by walking around.
• Compliance to the Company’s policy of authority.
• Approval of work carried out by contractors on MTN premises as per SLAs
• Engage with required suppliers for Network power, HVAC, BMS and facilities related issues as per specification and approved suppliers.

Minimum Requirements   - minimum necessary, and not the ideal / preferred should be included.
Education:

• Minimum of 3 year degree/diploma, with wireman’s license
• Fluent in English 

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the Technical field.
• Trade test certification.
• Basic mechanical experience with exposure to HVAC and gas suppression systems.
• Site safety.
• Experience in supervising others
• PC literacy (MS Windows package).
• Experience working in a medium  organization
