System and Database Master - Cape Town: Southern Suburbs at Communicate Recruitment

Skills & Experience:

• Maintain and optimize the ship's computer systems, ensuring seamless operation and maximum efficiency
• Oversee the creation and management of databases, ensuring data integrity and security
• Collaborate with the engineering team to implement upgrades and enhancements to the ship's infrastructure, including firewall configuration, and utilized automation systems like Ansible
• Troubleshoot and resolve any technical glitches or malfunctions that may arise during the ship's exploratory missions.
• Provide training and support to crew members on database utilization and best practices
• Extensive experience in database administration, preferably in a starship or deep space exploration setting
• Proficiency in a variety of database management systems, including but not limited to MySQL, Oracle, and PostgreSQL
• Solid understanding of SQL and its variations, as well as familiarity with data modeling and schema design
• provided limited support outside of office hours and mastered Unix scripting in bash, python, and groovy
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet in high-pressure situations.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, as you will be working closely with a diverse crew from various species and backgrounds
• Experience with Linux, Tomcat, Postgres, and Oracle administration to mention a few
