    Team Lead: Customs Compliance

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    • To manage the customs and export compliance status as well as facilitate administration surrounding all centralised Customs activities for PEP Stores

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Overall responsibility for compliance under the PEP Trading Customs code
    • Interaction with management of all importing/exporting divisions
    • Responsible for PEP Stores  customs database and reporting (error and management reports)
    • Interaction with SARS and/or external consultants iro Customs disputes
    • Determine best practice procedures / policies to be implemented by all divisions
    • Manage the clearing and forwarding agents iro Customs compliance
    • Manage PEP Stores Customs projects
    • Reconciliation and settlement of the central deferment account
    • Monitor completeness/accuracy of division reconciliations 
    • Manage weekly forecasting process to predict/administer top up payments where necessary
    • Communication to divisions iro monthly settlement and liability iro overruns
    • Facilitate clearance/escalation of customs issues/stops 
    • Extract data to compile interpretive reports
    • Financial Control and reconciliation of All non costed charges and rate table confirmations
    • Compiling seasonal Costing factors
    • Support and control of BLNE (Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Eswatini)Export Functions
    • People Management

    JOB INCUMBENT REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor’s Degree or diploma with a focus on Import / Export / Finance
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience 
    • Minimum 3 years people management experience
    • 3-5 years Import & Export Commercial experience 
    • Computer literacy: advanced MS Office (excel) and Google Suite
    • Project Management skills and aptitude to work with figures 
    • Skills: Communication skills (Management level); Analytical; Problem solving; Decision making; Build and maintain healthy business relationships; Attention to detail, Commercial- / Business acumen; Leadership; Assertive
    • Mature, proactive, resourceful and hands-on with good initiative
