Purpose Statement
To lead a Financial Reporting team responsible for duties relating to providing internal and external stakeholders with financial information to support them in decision-making and guide them in their interactions with investors, analysts, ratings agencies and the financial press.
To apply technical skills and experience to support the objectives of the business, and provide subject matter input towards managerial decision-making.
Experience
Minimum:
At least 5 years’ post article relevant experience in financial reporting dealing specifically with IFRS reporting requirements.
Analysis and interpretation of financial information and reporting at a group level.
Collaborating and coordinating cross-functionally
3 years’ experience in managing small teams
Ideal:
5+ years’ experience in IFRS reporting within a banking and/or insurance environment
Coaching and mentoring team members
Qualifications (Minimum)
Honours Degree in Accounting - Financial Accounting
Qualifications (Ideal or Preferred)
Knowledge
Minimum:
Financial concepts and practices
Technical knowledge and understanding of IFRS and emerging IFRS issues
Application of technical knowledge to business scenarios
Application of knowledge to implement best practice business processes
Income Tax
Navigate through various legal, standards and related regulatory frameworks
Change management principles
Business writing methods, standards
Practices to develop functional skills in people, including constructive reviewing of work
Ideal:
A good grasp of cost and volume mechanics
Credit risk theory and provisioning, specifically IFRS 9 and IFRS 17
