    Technical Assistant

    Minimum requirements 

    • National Diploma within the discipline of dry processing of Textile Technology.
    • B.Tech is the preference.
    • A minimum of 2 years relevant technical/  textile industry experience – e.g., in technology, manufacturing processes. (Textile technology-related teaching or training experience in Higher Education, industry, or training institutions).
    • Sound knowledge of the technical aspects of yarn and fabric manufacturing, product engineering, including but not limited to fabric construction, quality, and raw materials.
    • Understanding of all equipment and systems in the above-related laboratories.
    • Sound communication skills –use of MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

    • Demonstrate a solid portfolio of work and traceable references
    • Strong team player, high level of initiative, highly motivated, and ability to network

    Summary of Duties:

    • Undertake tasks as directed by the Head of Department or the Academic in charge.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for laboratories, equipment, and consumables at all times.
    • Assist in the delivery of practical sessions, assessment of students’ practical work, and training of students in the correct and safe use of equipment to carry out tasks in a disciplined manner.
    • Manage the opening and closing of laboratories during practical sessions and open access periods.
    • Oversee inventory control and equipment management to ensure efficient stock levels.
    • Support budget preparation for consumables and equipment needs.
    • Perform administrative duties, engage in community initiatives, and contribute to third-stream income activities as assigned by the Head of Department.
    • Take accountability for personal professional development.
    • Participate in departmental activities, including community engagement and research initiatives.
