This position requires a Grade 10, Job Specific Qualification, or equivalent qualification at NQF 2 with 4 years of work experience in the relevant field, or Grade 12, Job Specific Qualification, or equivalent qualification at NQF 4 with 3 years of work experience in the relevant field. A Higher Education Qualification/Diploma or equivalent qualification at NQF 5 will be an added advantage.
The following competencies are required for the candidate to be successful in this position: be able to perform a few well defined tasks in creation, installation and maintenance tasks associated with the following trades; basic carpentry, tiling, building, painting, roofing, and plumbing, ability to create, construct or maintain buildings, structures, features and articles according to the approved plan finalised by the supervisor or the head of section, be able to obtain quotes for building materials against approved budget, be able to use equipment, vehicles and other resources according to operational requirements, draw up a replacement program for machinery, equipment and tools, Identify all possible risks and report it to supervisor, ability to work in a team and independently; good communication skills; and basic relevant skills training, be in possession of a valid driver’s license Code C1 with at least one year driving experience.
Key Performance Responsibilities include:
Responsible for general building maintenance/alterations;
Responsible for purchasing building materials and vehicles;
Sharing responsibility over workshop;
Responsible for power tools and safety in workplace; and
Responsible for first aid, administrative task and comply with OHSA.
