Technical Sales Advisor (Cleaning & Hygiene) | Cape Town
A leading supplier of specialised cleaning and hygiene solutions to the food manufacturing industry is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Technical Sales Advisor to join their team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sales growth, providing technical support, conducting hygiene assessments, and developing strong customer relationships within food processing environments.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and secure new business opportunities within the food manufacturing sector
Achieve monthly sales and gross profit targets while growing existing customer accounts
Conduct site surveys, hygiene audits, and process evaluations to identify customer requirements
Assess cleaning procedures and recommend suitable detergent, disinfectant, and sanitation programmes
Provide technical advice on CIP systems, open plant cleaning, foam cleaning, disinfection protocols, and food safety practices
Conduct product trials, performance evaluations, and implementation support
Deliver customer training on product application, handling, and safety requirements
Build and maintain strong relationships with production, quality, hygiene, procurement, and plant management teams
Maintain accurate CRM records, sales forecasts, customer reports, and call cycle activities
Monitor competitor activity, market trends, and emerging customer requirements
Support product improvement initiatives through customer feedback and market insights
Requirements
Grade 12 plus a relevant Degree or Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Food Technology, Food Science, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Business Management, or a related field
Minimum 3–5 years' experience in technical sales within the food manufacturing, industrial hygiene, food chemical, water treatment, or related industries
Sound knowledge of food industry cleaning and hygiene processes
Strong understanding of CIP systems and open plant cleaning applications
Experience with detergent and disinfectant applications in food processing environments
Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and Food Safety Management Systems
Proven business development, account management, and customer relationship skills
Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications
Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel extensively
