Technical Tractor Representative at Mayfly Agri (Pty) Ltd

• A well-established world leader in agricultural mechanisation and a global manufacturer and distributor of high-end implements is seeking the above to provide technical support and troubleshooting for agricultural machinery, including tractors and equipment, as well as specialize in system calibration, software updates, and delivering training to dealer technicians and clients.

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Must have a relevant tertiary qualification as a Diesel Mechanic or Tractor Mechanic
• Minimum 5 years’ extensive knowledge and experience in the agriculture industry, particularly in mechanisation equipment such as tractors and their associated implements
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and effectively communicate with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders
• Experience with tractor transmissions, including Mechanical, CVT, and Powershift systems, as well as CCLS hydraulic systems and their application with hydraulic implements
• Must be able to read Canbus, electrical/electronic, and hydraulic schematics
• Must have a valid driver’s licence and be willing to travel frequently and stay overnight as necessary to meet service demands

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Diagnosing and troubleshooting faults in tractors and agricultural equipment, ensuring accurate and efficient repairs.
• Programming, configuring, and calibrating electronic control units and controllers.
• Performing software downloads and updates to ensure optimal performance of machinery.
• Conducting system configurations for various controllers and ensuring seamless integration with different implements.
• Monitoring the operational performance of equipment while in use to identify and rectify potential issues.
• Providing technical support and service for a range of agricultural machinery, including:
• Hay equipment and balers (both round and square balers)
• Fertilizer spreaders, including both manual and Isotonic models
• Ground-engaging equipment, planters, and sprayers
• Engaging with colleagues, suppliers, dealers, dealer technicians, and farmers to facilitate effective problem resolution and service improvements.
• Delivering training sessions and on-the-job coaching to dealer technicians while troubleshooting technical issues at dealer sites.
• Actively participating in demonstrations of tractors and agricultural equipment to showcase capabilities and ensure proper usage by clients.
