Temp Finance Manager at Vox Telecom

Overview:

• VOX, a leading and innovative telecommunications specialist in the South African market is looking for a Financial Controller.
• As part of the Finance function, this role will report to the CFO. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting heads of departments in planning, reporting, and analysis of results, whilst bringing visibility of the financial business performance to the Executive Committee.

Key Performance Objectives:

• Serve as the primary finance partner to executive leadership, providing accurate, timely, and insightful reporting to the Board, Executive Committee (Exco), and Management Committee (MANCO).
• Act as second-in-command to the CFO, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Group CFO.
• Own the preparation and delivery of monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reporting.
• Oversee balance sheet integrity, year-end audit processes, and technical accounting matters, including IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss (ECL) calculations.
• Provide IFRS and tax opinions to inform strategic, pricing, and operational decisions.
• Lead all VAT, EMP, Corporate Income Tax (CIT), and provisional tax processes, including SARS audits and regulatory engagements.
• Partner with commercial teams to evaluate pricing structures, margin performance, and product profitability.
• Drive finance automation initiatives and real-time reporting to improve financial visibility and decision-making speed.
• Manage finance reporting teams within a high-volume transactional environment.

Compliance, Risk, and Corporate Governance

• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and statutory requirements, including ICASA regulations and industry-specific reporting.
• Coordinate and support Internal Audit activities, including the implementation and monitoring of audit findings and control improvements.
• Strengthen governance frameworks, internal controls, and reporting discipline in collaboration with Internal Audit and Risk functions.
• Support enterprise risk management processes, including risk identification, assessment, reporting, and mitigation tracking.
• Oversee financial and governance inputs into B-BBEE reporting and compliance, working with external advisors where required.
• Contribute to Board and committee-level governance reporting, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and regulatory alignment

Qualifications:

• CA(SA) with Big 4 audit firm articles
• 3-5 years post articles experience
• Operational finance is non-negotiable.

Experience:

• Experience in complex financial modelling for revenue and costs is essential.
• Sound knowledge of IFRS and taxation rules
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint; proficiency in BI tools (Power BI) preferred
• Experience with ERP systems and familiarity with SQL or Power Query is a plus.
• Exceptional business acumen with a passion for turning data into actionable insights.
• Excellent communication skills, able to simplify complex information for stakeholders.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining integrity and confidentiality.
