Trainee Regional People Partner at Shoprite Group of Companies

About the role    

• The purpose of the Trainee Regional People Partner is a learning and development opportunity as part of the Divisional and Regional People Succession planning and People capability and capacity pipeline. The incumbent will work against the Regional People Partner accountabilities to ensure comprehensive exposure to the future role.
• The purpose of the future role of Regional People Partner is to work alongside the Divisional People Partner and business to ensure efficient and effective functional People operational delivery and practice management to the assigned division, business leadership, employees and other related stakeholders to drive the People agenda as aligned with business strategic and operations objectives.

What you'll do    

• Support the Regional People Partner in implementing HR strategies aligned with divisional and regional objectives.
• Assist in employee relations, talent management, and performance management processes within the assigned division.
• Contribute to workforce planning and succession initiatives to build capability and capacity pipelines.
• Participate in the analysis and reporting of HR metrics to inform business decisions and People strategies.
• Collaborate with business leaders to address People-related challenges and promote a positive work environment.
• Support the delivery of training and development programmes to enhance employee skills and performance.
• Ensure compliance with labour laws and organisational policies in all People operations.
• Assist in managing change initiatives to support business transformations and culture development.
• Maintain effective communication with stakeholders to foster engagement and alignment with People priorities.
• Continuously develop personal knowledge and skills in HR practices to prepare for future responsibilities as a Regional People Partner.

What you bring    

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Previous internship or 1-2 years' experience in human resources or a similar role is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of HR principles, labour legislation, and employee relations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to analyse HR data and metrics to support decision making and strategic planning.
• Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR information systems.
• Commitment to continuous learning and development in HR best practices and compliance.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team as well as independently under guidance.
• Willingness to support change initiatives and contribute to a positive organisational culture.
