    Training Officer

    Purpose of the position

    • Responsible for the continuous training and development of employees in the relevant business unit

    Job Specific Experience

    • 3-5 years’ experience in operational training within a manufacturing environment
    • 2 years experience in a supervisory position
    • Experience within the Pulp & Paper industry and exposure to Power & Recovery will be beneficial
    • Workplace Skills Plan experience will be advantageous

    Qualifications & Expertise

    • Matric plus relevant tertiary qualification (Pulp & Paper/Production/Mechanical etc.)
    • Tertiary education in Human Resources or in Training and Development as an advantage
    • NQF L6 / OD ETDP

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills within a team environment
    • Must be able to work efficiently in a high pressure environment
    • Valid driver’s license

    Functional Outputs

    • Perform Training Needs Analysis and associated tasks of the Workplace Skills Plan
    • Implement and maintain business unit T&D programmes, initiatives and related administrative duties
    • Take a practical role in optimisation of training systems and resources
    • Monitor, advise, guide and provide support and coaching relating to T&D, people, technology and processes
    • Ensure legislative compliance relating to T&D
    • Provide input on training and development system and processes, like budgeting, policies and procedures and student pipeline
    • Develop a Skills Matrix for the Business Unit
    • Coordinate students when performing on-the-job training and optimise processes
    • Evaluate and update operational training material
    • Review BU safe work procedures
    • Assist BU with succession planning to address BU workforce planning
    • Engage and liaise with stakeholders

    General

    • Computer literacy (including SAP) is essential
    • High attention to detail
    • Good understanding of integrated management systems
    • Good understanding of Education, Training and Development processes
