Job Description:
Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Ensure that Earth moving equipment is maintained according to set standards
• Identify any unexpected problems that could require higher level technical support to and advise supervisor.
• Report to Dispatch and/or Pit Foreman when task complete.
• Accompany Pit Foreman when inspecting completed task.
• Ensure that regular inspections are carried out on the Earth moving equipment to ensure operating worthiness.
• Apply recognized work and safety standards when executing tasks.
• Operate Earth moving equipment according to task standards.
• Move Earth moving equipment according to heavy duty driving regulations.
• Conduct minor repairs and maintenance on plant.
• Compile an accurate shift report.
• Ensure proper understanding of the required actions and orders
• Apply recognized work, driving and safety standards
• Ensure that tasks are completed to required quality standards
• Participate in weekly safety meetings
• Report any safety related grievances or issues to the safety rep or Dispatch / Pit Foreman
• Follow work instructions to set standards and procedures
• Identify safety related problems to the Dispatch / Pit Foreman
• Identify actions that could prevent and improve safety and work performance
• Ensure that any allocated support works together as a team while completing tasks
• Promote safety awareness by reminding team members to follow work procedures and identifying unsafe work practices
• This role is at a B3 Level, reporting to the Load and Haul Foreman.

Qualifications:

• Grade 12
• Tyre Dozer certificate
• IMPORTANT: applications without qualification related attachments will not be considered.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

• 1-year experience operating Earth moving equipment
• 1-year experience operating a Dozer, Front End loader or grader

Additional information:

• Valid driver’s license
• Medical certificate of fitness
