    Unlisted Infrastructure ESG Analyst – Infra Impact Mid-Market Infrastructure Fund 1 – Cape Town, South Africa

    Responsibilities

    1. Working collaboratively with team members to support the implementation and commitment to ESG integration in investment processes in unlisted investments.
    2. Ensure the ESG principles, plans and issues are adopted in the investment decision-making process and enforce compliance in line with the approved ESG governance framework.
    3. Apply screening tools to select investment opportunities.
    4. Assess companies from an impact perspective.
    5. Analyse and measure factors in business models, products and services that enable long term environmental and social impact returns.
    6. Formulate comprehensive ESG impact investment cases, reflecting both the financial and impact aspects of any recommendation.
    7. Conduct engagements with companies on ESG issues
    8. Conduct ESG due diligence to select investment opportunities and portfolio investee companies.
    9. Ensure the implementation of ESG Action Plans.
    10. Conduct periodic impact analysis.
    11. Conduct and support ESG research.
    12. Producing thought leadership research exploring the business and macro-economic case for ESG analysis and integration
    13. Design user-friendly matrices for management of ESG Data
    14. Innovative ESG reporting methodologies
    15. Report on ESG performance, plans and issues as required by business and stakeholders
    16. Provide in depth and creative analysis of ESG and global mega trends impact themes, evaluate its market potential, and define metrics that can be used to measure and report on the impact on environment/society (contribution to the UN SDGs).
    17. Monitor investee compliance in terms of ESG legal and regulatory compliance.
    18. Escalate non-compliance, as appropriate, to remedy with investee management.
    19. Create and maintain an electronic undertakings checklist per individual investee and a consolidated portfolio view.
    20. Perform undertakings compliance reviews for active investments.
    21. Complete and maintain a detailed consolidated Investee ESG Compliance Report on all compliance findings, ranking non- compliance by risk category.
    22. Create and maintain a historical (electronic) compliance history per investee.
    23. On an annual basis, ensure investee securities are in place and enforceable.
    24. Assist with the preparation and presentation of reporting requirements.

    Educational Qualifications

    1. B Degree in Business, Finance, Social, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Developmental studies, Economics and any other relevant degree.
    2. Preferred Qualifications: Post Graduate Degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Corporate Governance, and Human Resources, MBA, CFA.

    Key Required Experience

    1. Extensive knowledge of and passion for financial markets.
    2. At least 2 to 4 years of working experience in private equity and/or infrastructure investing.
    3. Expertise in impact investing and /or ESG.
    4. ESG due diligence knowledge/experience.
    5. Understanding of Impact measurement and management and the IFC Performance Standards.
    6. ESG Post Investment monitoring knowledge/experience.
    7. Working knowledge of BBBEE issues.
    8. Understanding of the Investment management industry.
    9. Understanding of Environmental and/or social legislative frameworks.
    10. Research and Quantitative Data management Experience.
    11. Understanding of Corporate Governance principles including King IV.
    12. Knowledge of the standard financial valuation tools.
    13. Transaction Project management experience.
