Water Quality Reports And Data Specialist at Rand Water

The overall responsibility of the successful candidate in this position is to provide statistical consultation services to both internal and external stakeholders on issues related to water quality. Generate water quality compliance and non-compliance reports and to ensure availability of these reports on all applicable Rand Water Systems. Participate on all innovation projects for the departments of Scientific Services on its Data Science drive.

Minimum Requirements    

• NQF 7: Degree in statistics or mathematical statistics.
• 3 years’ experience in the field of statistics.

Primary Duties    

• Report on water quality and quantity information using statistical tools and appropriate systems.
• Actively participate in project work (including all ad hoc projects and render a consultation service.
• Support the Scientific Services Division and other Rand Water divisions on its Data Science drive by applying scientific methods, processes, algorithms and systems from its structured and unstructured data in order to make sense of the data.
• Ensure that that all water quality reports are available on all Rand Water appropriate systems.
• Design models using any statistical software.
• Participate in innovation activities.
• Participate and present papers to internal stakeholders and in Conferences

Knowledge    

• Sound knowledge and understanding of statistical models and their applications.
• Sound understanding of data trends and patterns and to find answers to specific questions arising from the data.
• Strong mathematical & numeracy skills.

• Sound knowledge of at least one statistical software package.
