Porcupine Hills offers an array of luxurious and well-equipped self-catering accommodation options. One of the main features of the Porcupine Hills stay is the mountain over-which the farm faces. Black Eagles/Verreaux Eagles nest in the cliffs and offer great sightings of the soaring bird of prey. Guests can enjoy the abundant natural beauty, whether its hiking, birding, biking or swimming in the dam. If you are looking for a home away from home, where you will most likely catch a glimpse of the Verreaux Eagles nesting dramatically on the cliff face, enjoy the comfortable indoor and outdoor living of the Eyrie House. Slightly smaller groups can enjoy the Farmhouse, offering the charm of country-living and a lovely swimming pool and outdoor braai for lazy afternoons. The River Cottages offer a peaceful setting further up the valley. Nestled in the dappled shade of a poplar forest and the Kloof River gently passing through, enjoy easy access to the dam and privacy among the trees. Eyrie Cottage offers a view over the valley, tucked away and perfect for a couple or small family, or even part of larger bookings with Eyrie House. For big bookings or special requests, please contact us directly. Conservation is a priority at Porcupine Hills and Diepklowe Private Nature Reserve. Diepklowe is home to the endangered indigenous vegetation, Renosterveld. In light of this, the farm is proudly affiliated with various conservation efforts, such as Cape Nature, the Groenlandberg Conservancy, Conservation at Work, Table Mountain Fund and others. Alongside these efforts, Diepklowe Private Nature Reserve have engaged in developing wonderful walking trails, from hikes to easier nature walks. There are rare and endangered plant species endemic to the farm, most notably an extraordinary birdlife crowned by a pair of Verreaux eagles. Have a look at the Western Cape Black Eagle website for some more information regarding Verreaux eagles. Day visitors are welcome to walk the recently launched Verreaux Trail for a small fee for R50. If you have some more time to explore, consider doing the highly sought-after slack-packing offering: the Green Mountain Trail. Enjoy the wonders of the Groenlandberg area. We have all your eating and sleeping needs covered while you enjoy hiking the area during the four days of guided hiking.
