    JOB SPECIFICATION

    MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

    • The General Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the client’s, Ford Silverton, account under Contract Logistics, in South Africa, aligning the company strategy across all operations, including inbound airfreight. 
    • This position is accountable for a world-class solution to Client, including contract adherence in terms of client relations, operational performance, commercial and financial performance, people management, development, continual improvement and innovation initiatives. 
    • The role needs to ensure that the DSV Contract Logistics strategies, goals and initiatives are cascaded down through the organization into the various areas of the operations, whilst ensuring compliance with the DSV standards, policies and procedures. 
    • The incumbent should take a leading role in developing services and solutions to complement DSV’s offering to the Automotive industry.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
    Client strategy:

    • Develop strategic operating plans that reflect the long-term objectives and priorities established by Client as well as DSV.
    • Manage all risks with regards to services provided by DSV to Client.
    • Ensure adequate operational planning and financial control systems. 

    Client Operations:

    • Full accountability and leadership on all aspects of the Client Site operations in Gauteng.

    • Compliance of sites to DSV standards, including SHERQ and Quality Management System.

    • Tertiary qualifications (an advantange)
    • Minimum of 2 years experience in either a commercial or operational role within the Logistics environment.

    Computer Literacy:

    • Microsoft Office, Microsoft Dynamics (Advantageous)

    Electives:

    • Ability to build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline
    • Good communication skills, ability to converse with senior management
    • Presentation skills
    • Well groomed
