    HSE & Q Officer

    Job description

    Reference: RM

    Our client, a renewable energy company is seeking to employ a HSE&Q Officer to be based in Kimberley.

    Responsibilities

    • Implement and monitor all HSE management systems on site, including, but not limited to HSE guidelines, objectives and practices.
    • Schedule and execute audits on site to identify areas of improvement and implement measures as required.
    • Carry out risk assessments on a continuous basis on site
    • Provide HSE training, awareness and induction on site to staff, contractors and other relevant parties.
    • Engage with staff, contractors and other relevant parties with respect to HSE matters related to the site.
    • Keep HSE statistical records, such as incidents, accidents, near-misses and working hours on site.
    • Keep HSE registers up to date, including renewals of permits, licenses, etc.
    • Compile monthly site HSE reports
    • Have first line responsibility for incident investigations, including but not limited to investigating, making initial recommendations and putting measures in place to prevent reoccurrence.
    • Assist Plant Manager to implement accident-prevention and environmental impact activities on site.
    • Implement emergency and crisis management plans on site.
    • Act as Emergency coordinator on site.
    • Implement Environmental Management Plans of the site
    • Monitor environmental footprint on site
    • Other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager / HSE&Q Manager Quality Management
    • Implement non-conformance and suggestion systems on site, including Corrective and Preventative Action Requests (CPAR), Non-conformance Report (NCR) and Field Performance Report (FPR) systems
    • Ensure quality requirements are met by site audits, review of inspection reports and analysis of non-conformance reporting
    • Monitor vendor/contractor performance and make recommendations on vendors/contractors
    • Ensure quality plans are implemented on site
    • Ensure internal quality standards are maintained and monitored.
    • Other QM-related duties as assigned by the HSE&Q Manager

    Skills & Competencies

    • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant HSE legislation (OHS Act and Regulations, NEMA, COIDA, etc.), environmental regulations and plant safety procedures
    • High levels of organisational commitment and responsiveness; able and willing to align his/her own behaviour and actions with the needs, priorities and goals of the organisation
    • Highly effective verbal communication skills, including influencing without depending on positional authority
    • Very good written communication skills; clear expression of ideas or information. Good inter-personal skills; able to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders, to accomplish organisational goals and identify and resolve problems.

    Requirements

    • Minimum 1 year’s OHS or equivalent (ideally, NEBOSH certification)
    • Certified risk assessor
    • Electrical safety certification (ideally, or willing/able to work towards)
    • Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in industrial plant or similar
    • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with HSE management systems in an industrial setting
    • Demonstrated knowledge of environmental requirements and practices, would be an advantage
    • Experience in working with quality management systems

    Our client is seeking a qualified individual to join their team on site in South Africa.

    Responsibilities

    • Diagnosing, repairs, maintenance and servicing of electrical wiring and components on underground mining equipment.
    • Attending to breakdowns.
    • Performing asset care activities including feedback and reporting.
    • Daily inspection checklists for tools, equipment and areas of work.
    • Ensure health, safety and environmental standards are adhered to.

    Requirements: Qualification and Skill

    • Auto Electrician trade test.
    • Matric certificate.
    • 5 years previous experience as an underground Auto Electrician in the mining industry.
    • Previous experience on underground Atlas Copco equipment.
    • Experience in air-conditioning maintenance.
    • Experience on computerised maintenance systems.
    • This position is only open to South African citizens currently residing in South Africa.

    SHE Manager (mining)

    Job description

    My client is an International mining group with an operation in South Africa

    They are seeking to employ an HSE Manager to implement and enforce the Mine’s Health & Safety Management System and to head the environmental department, supporting project objectives and upholding key performance indicators, with particular regard to applicable legislation and overall legal compliance

    Responsibilities

    • To hold the appointment in terms of Minerals Act Regulation 2.17.4, which remains in force by virtue of Schedule 4 of the Mine Health and Safety Act No. 29 of 1996 (“MHSA”);
    • From time to time perform the duties of Safety Officer as contemplated in the Minerals Act Regulation 2.19.4;
    • Periodical review of the hazards identified and risks assessed;
    • Ensure consultations with the Health and Safety Committee on matters required in terms of the MHSA;
    • Ensure that COPs and SOPs are drafted, reviewed and implemented;
    • Conduct regular assessments related to training, systems, Code of Practices and Standard Operating Procedures;
    • Ensure with the assistance of the Mine and Plant Manager that appropriate appointments are made under the MHSA;
    • Assist the Mine Manager and the Plant Manager in carrying out their duties and responsibilities;
    • Management of the environmental consultants;
    • To support the Environmental Officer in the following roles and responsibilities but not limited to:
    • Ensuring that environmental incidents are addressed by implementing corrective/preventive actions;
    • Ensuring that environmental performance is reported to top management;
    • Compliance obligations are met and reported on;
    • ISO 14 001 EMS is implemented and is functional;
    • Maintain relevant EMP documentation and ensure implementation thereof

    Requirements

    • Diploma/ Degree in Safety Management;
    • COMSOC I and II advantageous;
    • More than five years’ experience in related position in a mining environment;
    • Excellent Microsoft Office Skills;
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
    • Highly motivated with strong hands on mentality.
    • This is strictly an HDSA / BEE position

    Contractual Information

    Permanent Local ZAR contract
    Relocation to Limpopo necessary

    Our client, an international renewable energy company is seeking a Project Accountant to manage all financial processes for a construction project.

    Job Description

    This person will be responsible for ensuring confidentiality, accurate and timely record keeping and data management.

    Specific Responsibilities And Duties Include

    • Process all income and costs, ensuring correct coding, authorisation, and transaction management.
    • Routinely review Construction and Professional Fee budgets and monitor change controls, early warnings and contingency drawdowns.
    • Set up and manage Project cash flows
    • Maintain sufficient contract documentation and check that payments made are in line with contractual terms
    • Manage the overheads associated with the Project Team including staff costs
    • Ensure costs are correctly allocated to Capital Project costs and ROH internal Project costs
    • Control and reconcile designated balance sheet accounts and project codes
    • Plan for and manage internal project costs
    • Produce monthly finance reports for the project team, to agreed timetables, showing budget, forecast, committed and actual performance against plan, with breakdown of costs and written commentary
    • Ensure project budgets and plans are kept up to date to reflect progress and changes to assumptions, including any reforecast as required
    • Maintain detailed records as required for both internal and external audit purposes
    • Take responsibility for preparation of all financial and non-financial information required for project sponsors, project managers, Project Board, Trustees and external funders as required in both routine reporting and ad hoc requests
    • Support managers at all levels to discharge their responsibilities as project managers.
    • Provide financial input into forward planning process to support completion of project lifecycle
    • Management of robust financial controls and accounting systems
    • Delivery of comprehensive financial plans, budgets and reports to required standard, format and timelines
    • Delivery of an effective financial management service to support the priorities and success of the project
    • Effective relationship management with Project team, Finance team and all key Stakeholders.

    Requirements

    • Previous experience of project accounting for a construction project
    • Extensive experience of computerised accounting systems, preferably Navision
    • Accounting degree
    • At least 5 years of working experience
