Purpose

This role for a Senior Software Java Developer in the Cape Town office as part of our plan to expand our Common Services platform. Having financial background is a huge plus, as is being able to navigate your way through different application integrations.

Responsibilities of the Role

• Work with an awesome geographically distributed team of engineers and product designers to implement the next generation of products and/or features
• Work independently and collaborate on projects developing applications from scratch
• Build applications that can scale (millions of transactions/requests per day)
• Develop software iteratively and deliver working code each iteration, including authoring relevant documentation and test cases

Be responsible for:

• implementing, debugging and testing of new product features, or enhancements on existing features, or assisting customers and vendors with implementing and troubleshooting end-to-end solutions
• Implementing a test-driven development using unit tests and integration tests in an agile environment
• sustaining implemented features once delivered into production, including maintenance and support
• accurate and detailed documentation of relevant design artefacts (use cases, user stories, sequence diagrams etc)
• working closely with key stakeholders in particular with team leads and technical managers
• Partake in discussion of architecture, design recommendations and implementations
• Adhere to policies and standards as applied by the team and directed by the technical manager
• Provide scheduled standby/on-call support of production software

Requirements of the Role

• Computer Science degree or equivalent diploma from a reputable school (or 10+ years relevant experience if no degree)
• Has a proven track record of working in relevant software developer roles of 8 years or more
• Have strong development experience using Java, Hibernate, MySQL, Gitlab, Springboot and the Jersey Framework
• Proven industry experience in Financial or banking, or telecommunications an advantage
• AWS Cloud computing experience
• Process experience in
• Hybrid waterfall/agile environments
• Agile environments including attendant tools and steps
• Proven technology experience in
• high volumes transactional/low latency solutions
• multi-tiered, multi-threaded Java applications with a focus on high transaction/low latency communication tier

Purpose

This role will form part of the Sales Operations Function residing within the Commercial Sales Line of the Business. The primary focus and objectives are to support the Deal Desk Manger to improve customer acquisition & retention through the implementation and evolution of sustainable commercial pricing models that encourage rapid adoption and promote extension of the customer life cycle. The production & maturation of relevant & insightful customer analytics with actionable outcomes is key to maximizing value extraction.

• Support and contribute to the establishment of a new Deal Desk function - residing within the Sales Operations Team.
• Core objectives of the role include improving deal win rate, reducing cycle time, maximising commercial benefit of deals for Clickatell and the Client, and working with key stakeholder to deliver differentiated, attractive, data-based proposals and pricing to our clients
• Support and produce customer facing pricing & profitability outputs, develop competitive models aimed at acceleration of deal closure, customer incentivised upsell & cross sell activity and stickiness, while balancing business and customer priorities and objectives.
• Develop, maintain and evolve appropriate processes and controls in support of continued customer profitability, successful customer activation and account management activities.
• Provide relevant, meaningful and insights-driven metrics and visualisations aimed at enabling data driven decision making capabilities across the organisation.
• Facilitate feedback into cross-functional areas of the organisation driving best practices & lessons learnt.
• Maintain and mature complex pricing policy for unique customer channels including Social Volatiles and Partner accounts
• Provide Sales Leadership support through ad hoc analysis, insights driven analytics and customer engagement activities.
• Provide insights and guidance into the RFx processes aimed at increasing frequency and likelihood of deal closure and success.
• Facilitate cross departmental engagement in support of sales activities and customer satisfaction

We are looking for a Full Stack Developer to join our team where you will be required to utilise your knowledge of Java and Angular to develop and maintain Chat Commerce features on our high performance (low latency, high transaction volumes) applications. This role will join our existing agile teams of developers and will assist in expanding our capacity, this will allow us to build the features that will enable our clients to seamlessly transact and engage with their customers on a global scale, using channels such as WhatsApp, Apple Business Chat, and SMS, with new channels coming soon. This role will report into a Cape Town based team lead.

Work Experience

• At least 5 years’ experience in a Software Engineering role, demonstrating an aptitude for Full Stack development
• A background working in a high-volume communication, payment transaction environment, or mobile technology platforms and systems integration would be advantageous
• Must be able to demonstrate a sustained track record of delivering high-quality outputs, on-time and to product or business specifications.

Knowledge and Abilities

• At least Java 11 or newer with Spring Boot 2 or newer and Spring Framework experience required
• HTML 5, CSS 3 and Typescript experience required
• Use of JavaScript frameworks such as ReactJS and Angular 7 or newer
• Knowledge of RxJS would be advantageous
