    EPC Project Scheduler (m/f/d)

    Objectives

    • We are seeking a highly organized project scheduler to implement and oversee project schedules. In this role, you will be collaborating with the EPC Project Managers, setting tasks, and monitoring the execution of project timelines. You will also epare project progress and performance evaluation reports.
    • To ensure success, project schedulers should possess solid industry knowledge and demonstrable experience in project scheduling. A top-notch project scheduler will be someone whose expertise leads to the successful realization of envisaged project goals.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Consulting with project managers and technical experts to set up assignments, tasks, and subtasks within a schedule.
    • Provide support and inform the EPC Project Manager in respect of progress measurement on the project, using a progress measurement system.
    • Developing, implementing, and maintaining an effective scheduling management system.
    • Coordinating project timelines with internal departments and external stakeholders.

    Qualifications And Experience

    • Advanced proficiency in MS Project software.
    • Qualification or Certifications in project management, or in a related field.
    • A minimum of two years' experience as a project scheduler in a related industry (EPC project execution or general construction environment).
    • Experience in schedule planning and management.
    • In-depth knowledge of the scope of projects within the industry.
    • Advanced ability to evaluate project progress and facilitate interventions.
    • Ability to keep stakeholders informed of project timelines and changes.
    • Excellent organizational, time-management, and communication skills.

    Desirable Attributes

    • More than two years’ experience in the Renewable Energy construction market.

    Civil Design Engineer (m/f/d) – Solar PV and Battery Storage (BESS)

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Responsible to manage and evaluate site studies in cooperation with 3rd parties such as Geotechnical Study, Hydrological Study, Topographical Study, Site characterisation (assessments), Pull out test.
    • Create design drawings and perform calculations for construction roads, trenches, foundations, piling, storm water management, cut and fill and drainage, etc.
    • Responsible for the review of tracker system / fixed tilt module mounting structure details and calculations
    • Responsible for the design and/ or review of solar plant facility foundations (e.g. inverter foundation, Battery storage container foundation detail, cable tray system, DCIB supporting structure etc.)
    • Responsible for reviewing Request for Proposals (RFPs) from Client
    • Responsible for the preparation of clarification list and BOM for Tender purposes
    • Reviews Vendor related documents and inputs per project requirement translating the contractual obligations into technical requirements and civil designs
    • Review of engineering and construction documentation from subcontractors
    • Compile specifications, scope of works and evaluate standards for civil works as part subcontracts
    • Scoping and analysing survey reports such as geotechnical reports, storm water management reports, topographic maps and other data to support project investigations
    • Ensuring contractors use sound construction methods, compliant materials and construct according to contract specifications through ad-hoc site visits
    • Provide time and cost estimates for materials, equipment, labour, etc. to support project feasibility evaluations
    • Review quotations/ proposals submitted by subcontractors for civil works execution
    • Interacting with internal and external stakeholders such as Project Management, Supply Chain, Construction, Consultants, Suppliers and Subcontractors to ensure compliant project execution.
    • Ensures that detailed designs are in accordance with project requirements, specifications and Standards in the country of implementation.
    • Flexible to cover and represent project engineering on behalf of the Project Lead to liaise with Stakeholders in and out of the Company in some occasions, if needed.
    • Accountable for inspection and reporting on construction activities in conformance with project drawings, specifications, schedules, procedures, quality requirements and safety standards in accordance with company procedures & processes, legislation, standards and industry best practise.
    • Ensuring contractual schedule and payment milestones are achieved, including preparation/ compilation of design packages.
    • Accountable for preparation and review of work procedures and QCP’s.

    Your Profile

    • Civil Engineering degree
    • Minimum of 3 years work experience, in construction, power or electrical infrastructure projects, preferably in the renewable energies sector
    • Good communication skills
    • The candidate should have demonstrated the ability to work in matrix organizations and to operate and navigate within an international company
    • Ability to work independently
    • Attention to detail
    • Conversant with software tools as required for the position (e.g., Civil3D, ACAD, STAAD, Microsoft office tools, Inventor)

    Commissioning Engineer (m/f/d)

    Your Tasks

    Objectives

    • As a Commissioning Engineer you will be actively involved in commissioning of Solar PV projects in various countries within South Africa and the EMEA region.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Compilation of project specific Inspection and Test Plans of ITPs and ITCs
    • Specify test and commissioning requirements; and review test and commissioning protocols/ procedures submitted by original equipment manufacturers, product suppliers and system integrators
    • Managing interface with internal and external stake holders of project including JUWI Construction, H&S and Quality Team to ensure the requirements and expectations are properly considered in test and commissioning planning.
    • Managing commissioning activities under the costs and timeline constraints of the project in close cooperation with the Commissioning manager
    • Coordinating and Execute construction handover to commissioning
    • Coordinating and Execute (through internal and external stake holder) all the activity and test related to commissioning
    • Manage external supplier on site during commissioning activity
    • Managing commissioning safety in commissioning-controlled areas
    • Executing and supervising all required test and commissioning activities on PV field equipment in compliance with the approved Commissioning Plan, protocols and procedures.
    • Collect all the Tests Report and Checklists and prepare the handover documentation folder related to commissioning
    • Supervision of tests and commissioning of grid connection and substations
    • Execute and supervision of SCADA system test and commissioning
    • Organization and supervision of grid compliance tests (Active power, reactive power, voltage and frequency test)
    • Supervision of the execution to the Provisional Acceptance Tests, Executing practical compliance test (Performance guarantee test)
    • Ensure the plant and associated equipment successfully pass all contractual tests to reach Commercial Operation
    • Reporting commissioning activities to Commissioning manager.
    • Coordinate on site team to handover the project safely to the O&M/owner once commissioning complete

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Applicant should hold electrical engineering degree or equivalent
    • Minimum 3 year’s experience in commissioning field
    • Read and interpret complex electrical diagrams and schematics is a must.
    • Able to work both independently and in a team
    • Experience with Insulation resistance test and related instrumentation and procedure (from 1KV to 10kV)
    • Experience with MV cable withstand test (VLF test)
    • Experience with MV/HV energization procedure
    • Experience with MV (fixed and withdrawable) switchgear maneuver
    • Experience in cable fault locating is nice to have.
    • Experienced in LOTO procedure
    • Knowledge on configuring protection relays
    • Knowledge to operate testing kits like primary and secondary injection kit, HV voltage test kit Testing experience of HV protection relays, HV breakers and Transmission line
    • Acknowledgment of SCADA systems from different technologies and manufacturers is nice to have.

    Electrical Engineer (m/f/d) Grid / MV / HV

    Objectives

    • As Electrical Engineer (m/f/d) for Grid/MV/HV you will be part of the JUWI EMEA Engineering team, supporting the engineering, procurement, project management and new business teams with electrical engineering analysis, design, modelling, costing, and commissioning.  You will be the primary resource for solar PV plant connection to the utility interface (Eskom) grid, including grid code compliance, and you will take engineering responsibility for all grid related matters. You will be the main interface amongst JUWI subsidiaries and JUWI South Africa on all electrical engineering related matters that fall within your scope.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Provide the Development, EPC and New Business teams with all electrical engineering input for Solar PV & BESS Plants
    • Assist the JUWI team with related problem-solving and queries, interfacing with other JUWI subsidiaries or other expertise as and when required, including presenting to the required Utility Forums
    • Liaise with the Utility (e.g., Eskom, Municipality, Client Interface) with regards to project grid connection related issues from the development to the commissioning phase, often including post commissioning activities
    • Liaise with Consultants with regards to project grid connection related issues from the development to the commissioning phase
    • Monitor the project construction progress and support the resolution of grid related field issues
    • Participate in contract reviews and feasibility studies
    • Assist in developing project Requests for Proposals (RFP’s) to contractors for bidding purposes
    • Assist with environmental and land issues in relation to the grid connection
    • Reviewing of EPC technical documentation to comply with the developer’s and applicable legal requirements
    • Reviewing of the overall system design, including for grid code compliance (including but not limited to considerations of SCADA and RTU interface design, transient analysis, power factor, grounding, steady state arc flash, protective device coordination, short circuit, lightning protection, communication systems, transformers, inverters, RMU’s, DCB’s, cables, etc.)
    • Review project design and bill of quantity to ensure compliance with EPC contracts
    • Responsible for the development of a process road map for the execution of the Grid interconnection portion of Utility Scale PV plant works in both South and sub-Saharan Africa including required deliverables, expected timeframes, and expected roles and responsibilities of stakeholders
    • Create specifications, Scope of Works, electrical schematics, wire sizing, determine quantities, select components, and specify all components to provide the optimal configuration
    • Implementation of system design standards and optimisations proposed by international system design and construction teams from other subsidiaries and ZA
    • Compliance to JUWI standards and to regional standards and international regulations
    • Ensure seamless technical documentation of PV & BESS power plants

    Your Profile

    • Electrical Engineering qualification
    • Five years’ work experience in South African power industry, preferably solar power, or wind power
    • Clear understanding and working experience of Grid Codes and its application to solar PV plant design
    • MV / HV electrical experience
    • Ability to develop electrical single-line diagrams
    • The candidate should have demonstrated the ability to work in matrix organizations and to operate and navigate within an international company
    • Ability to work independently

    EPC Project Manager (m/f/d)

    Objectives

    • The EPC Project Manager (m/f/d) is responsible for project management during the execution of the Engineering Procurement and Construction contracts of Hybrid and/or utility scale PV projects in south Africa/ Sub-Saharan Africa. He/ she is fully responsible and accountable for compliance, budget, cost, quality, schedule, risk, contracts, engineering, integration, stakeholders and security.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Accountable for the successful execution of solar PV EPC projects from design through energisation and handover
    • Formal project management of EPC and subcontracts including technical, commercial and stakeholder aspects     
    • Manage and report on progress - schedule, costs, risk, quality etc. as and when required by the Company     
    • Responsible for schedule and achievement of contractual milestones
    • Responsible of costs, budget and liquidity/ cash flow
    • Ensure compliance with all the specifications and requirements included in EPC contracts and related project documents
    • Reporting to the Head of EPC, the EPC Project Manager will work with Project Development and Sales, Project Purchasing, Construction Management, Engineering, Consultants, Clients and Authorities to ensure compliant project execution
    • Work closely with Project development and Sales during the finalization of the selling process to coordinate internal work and support project sale
    • Implementation, compliance with JUWI processes and standards
    • Adopt and improve where necessary the standard JUWI project management processes to minimize project risk and maximize performance
    • Ensure full compliance with the QHSE regulations, legislation, standards, codes and requirements applicable to the project
    • Responsible for handover to O&M and Plant owner for other departments as needed

    Your Profile

    • Engineering/ Management qualification
    • Minimum of 5 years working experience in Electrical infrastructure project management (EPC) with overall responsibility.  At least 3 years Solar PV EPC project Management
    • Excellent communication skills, able to communicate at all levels both internally and externally (both suppliers and customers)
    • Demonstrable experience of project cost, schedule, risk, quality and technical management and control
    • Experience of working autonomously, as the position requires leadership, decision making and problem solving 
    • Conversant with project management tools i.e. MS Project & MS Office, etc. and best practice
    • A good understanding of the electrical grid, South African National Grid Code and grid connection process
    • Conversant with health and safety requirements, commissioning and energization of substations & Solar PV plants
    • Experience of evaluating processes and making appropriate improvements in line with business needs

    Junior EPC Project Manager (m/f/d)

    Your Tasks

    Objectives

    • The Junior EPC Project Manager (m/f/d) (Junior EPC PM) is responsible for project management during the execution of the Engineering Procurement and Construction contracts of Hybrid and/or utility scale PV projects in South Africa/Africa under the direct/in-direct supervision or guidance from the EPC Project Manager (m/f/d) (EPC PM). The Junior EPC Project Manager (m/f/d) is responsible and accountable for compliance, budget, cost, quality, schedule, risk, contracts, engineering, integration, stakeholders and security on the applicable project sub-tasks allocated to him/her within an EPC Project. The Junior EPC PM (m/f/d) will also be responsible for the close-out and project management on related tasks for EPC projects during the warranty/ defect’s liability period under the direct/in-direct supervision or guidance from the EPC PM.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Support EPC PM in managing and communicating a clear vision of the project’s objectives, and motivate the project team to achieve them; create a project environment that enables peak performance by team members.
    • The Deputy PM will collaborate with all operational parties, including Purchasing & Logistics, Engineering, Specialist Consultants, Suppliers, Subcontractors and IT.
    • Any other ad-hoc projects and duties as required by management.
    • Manage and report on progress when required.       
    • Responsible for schedule and achievement of contractual milestones within allocated sub-tasks within the EPC Project.
    • Reporting to the Team Leader and EPC Project Manager on assigned tasks and responsibilities.
    • Work closely with Project development and Sales during the finalization of the selling process to coordinate internal work and support project sales.
    • Implementation, compliance with juwi processes and standards and all allocated tasks.
    • Project management of EMEA EPC projects from Gate 5 to Gate 6 (POST EPC PM Projects).
