    Company Secretary

    An excellent opportunity has arisen within our Commercial Business Division for a Company Secretary in Johannesburg. The incumbent is responsible for all the secretarial and statutory functions and duties within the organisation.

    Essential Job Functions

    Key Performance areas:

    • Attend to all company secretarial matters for Smith & Nephew (Pty) Limited and other Smith & Nephew entities in South Africa.
    • Liaise with and support the Global Company Secretariat in relation to company secretarial and corporate governance matters
    • Support the Legal and Compliance team as required on key projects and initiatives in South Africa
    • Support the business on generation, use, execution, storage and retention of documents

    Key Functions:

    • Monitor all legislative, regulatory and corporate governance developments that might affect the Company’s operations, and ensure that the Board is fully briefed on these
    • Ensure the publication and maintenance of standard protocol document for Board management and related processes
    • Manage Portfolio Committee matters
    • Develop and ensure maintenance of the Board and Committee’s charters and terms of reference
    • Ensure the smooth running of the Board’s and Board Committees’ activities including the following:
    • Co-ordination of meetings, assisting the MD with the preparation of agendas, papers and reports, attending meetings and ensuring minutes are written, ensuring follow-up on outstanding matters; advising on Board procedures and ensuring that the Board follows them
    • Provide support and advice on all matters required by the Board
    • Monitor that proper procedures are followed during the appointment of Board members
    • Develop and implement a Board and Board Committee induction training programme, and manage the induction of new Board members into the organisation
    • Establish training requirements for new Board appointees and implement appropriate orientation and training for the Board as required
    • Ensure communication of Board decisions and monitor progress in so far as reporting to staff and management
    • Co-ordinate Annual Compliance and Legislative Activities as required:
    • Annual Company Returns
    • Reporting & Submission as per requirements of the Companies Act
    • Establishing and Co-ordinating Regulated Committees as required by Companies Act
    • Workman’s Compensation annual reporting
    • Liaising with Group Secretariat – updating Blue Print and other key activities as required

    Requirements

    • Degree in Business Studies preferably in law
    • Min 2 years’ experience working as a Company Secretary
    • Para-Legal background preferred
    • Finance or accounting experience preferred

    Sales Representative trauma

The incumbent is responsible for the successful launch, promotion and sales of their specific product range to Orthopaedic Surgeons. The continuing education in the correct application and usage of these products in the sales territory allocated to the incumbent is paramount. The incumbent reports to the Regional Sales Manager responsible for their allocated territory.

    Essential Job Functions
    Key Performance areas:

    • To attain and exceed targeted sales.
    • To develop and maintain a regular calling pattern and to report accordingly.
    • To ensure that all customers are fully cognisant of the product range.

    Key Functions:
    Is responsible for attaining and exceeding targeted sales for the products to be sold in the territory. These products will be promoted and sold to the following outlet types:

    • Develops a routine calling pattern for all customers within own area as follows:

    A quarterly business plan to ensure coverage of territory is submitted to the Regional Sales Manager and broadly outlines an overall plan to ensure total coverage of all outlets in the forthcoming quarter, with an emphasis on objectives set out by Marketing at the beginning of each quarter.

    Cultivate culture of coaching for the commercial team, set the standards and governance for this coaching culture across cluster by developing coaching plan for Field managers and ensure the sustainability of this culture through solid critical metrics that will be automated on CRM or LMS or any similar Vehicle.

    •  Calling and detailing in a one-on-one environment
    • In-service training sessions
    •  Use of audio visual training aids, promotional literature and journal reports.
    • Practical demonstrations.
    •  Setting up workshops for the training of staff.

    Requirements

    • Matric Qualification
    • Degree within the Faculty of Health Sciences

    Loan Set Controller

    An excellent opportunity has arisen within our Supply Chain Division for a Loan Set Controller in Port Elisabeth. The incumbent is responsible for all functions related to Loan set/Inventory management, i.e., preparation. kit filling, kit maintenance, washing of instrumentation, checking of instrumentation, ordering of inventory for loan set requirements, etc. Reverse logistics, ensure physical checking of all returns and correct updating on the computer system.

    Key Performance Areas

    • To ensure that loan sets are complete and correct for customer delivery.
    • To ensure that deliveries take place on schedule.
    • To inspect all items to ensure that they are in working condition.
    • To ensure that Safety Stock levels are maintained.

    Key Functions/Tasks

    • Together with the Customer Services Department, ensures that all bookings made, either by a Customer or the Sales force, is executed at a very high standard, i.e.
    • Sets/stock to be delivered within the required time to the Customer.
    • Ensures that Loan Sets are complete, implants correspond with the required pick list/check list, and that all instruments are in working condition and complete as per the check list
    • Advises the Sales force of any discrepancies with regard to Loan Sets in the office or received back from the Customer.
    • Ensures that all usages are identified and verified by the Customer Services Officer.
    • In conjunction with the Supervisor, co-ordinates the delivery schedule for the day, and ensures that the Field Assistants understand and execute the required tasks
    • Ensures that all Loan Sets, Check Lists (Implants) are verified against the AS400/LANSA systems.
    • Ensures that all Capital, Demo and Loan equipment is controlled, monitored and issued on LANSA.
    • Ensures that all Capital items on loan are accompanied by a Loan Agreement form, which must be signed by the Customer.
    • Demo Trolley bookings must be co-ordinated between the CSO, the Sales Manager and the incumbent.
    • Ensures that all Capital, Demo, Loan items are in working condition, and inspected on a regular basis, in conjunction with the S&N Clinical Engineer
    • Co-ordinates all repairs (Endo) being done, and checks with the CSO that the repairs are recovered and invoiced.
    • Together with the Operations Manager and Team Leader, ensures that all stock on the shelf corresponds with what is on the AS400 system.  Discrepancies must be investigated and reported to the Operations Manager.
    • Plans and receives Inter-Depot transfers, ensures that Safety Stock levels are maintained, and that timeous ordering of stock occurs.  Picks, issues and confirms all Inventory transactions on LANSA.
    • Assists with stock takes when required.
    • Assists with deliveries / collections when required.
    • Works on a shift basis.
    • Ensures that the working environment is safe at all times, neat, clean and risk-free.
    • Maintains company vehicles.

    Minimum Entry Requirements

    Education

    • Matriculation
    • Studying towards a certificate/diploma in Transport or Supply Chain Management
    • Valid driver’s license, with no endorsements

    Experience

    • 4 years’ experience in a computerized stores environment, preferably in a related medical industry
    • Computer literate, and knowledge of ERP systems
