    Cell Manager - Production Packaging

    ABOUT THE JOB

    To provide strong leadership to the manufacturing department, guiding and motivating teams to meet production targets and operational goals

    Delivery

    • Oversee daily operations, ensuring adherence to production schedules, procedures, policies, and quality standards.
    • Deliver required tons and / or finished goods within the required quality standards.
    • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to address and resolve issues related to product quality and completion of QA documentation.
    • Manage section budget & deliver savings as when required.
    • Manage section head count.
    • Minimize packaging and milk losses.
    • Manage and deliver the FTE / Tons target.
    • Deliver the required line efficiencies (OE)
    • Manage and improve customer service level.
    • Identify section competencies & close skills gaps within the department.
    • Provide coaching and performance feedback to section.
    • Create strong and healthy talent pipeline
    • Drive two-way communication.
    • Ensure proper shift hand over and team talk happens at every shift.
    • Manage the available resources to meet all the stipulated key performance indicators.
    • Ensure adherence to the environmental policies, procedures and standards.
    • Ensure proper housekeeping.
    • Manage waste disposal according to the policy, procedure and protocol.
    • Drive section safety agenda and audits
    • Drive and implement the departmental Safety actions plans.

    Food Safety and Quality

    • Ensure adherence to Food Safety and Quality principles as included in the policies, procedures, product specification and processes.
    • This also includes general Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and hygiene practices.

    ABOUT YOU

    Qualification(s):

    • Production Management, BSC in Engineering or related qualification

    Experience and Skills:

    • 4 years’ experience within FMCG environment, 2 years leadership experience, and having delivered tangible results.

    Plant Quality Manager

    KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

    Finished Product Quality

    • Ensures Food Safety and Conformity of all products delivered to market
    • Optimizes the product control plan to ensure product conformity to the value promises
    • Optimizes the plant Laboratory in its four dimensions: production / expertise / training / exemplarity.
    • Manages consumer complaints through root cause analysis and actions to eradicate the problems resulting in a decreasing trend of CC
    • Manage feedback to consumer service centre on consumer complaints and in appropriate cases direct feedback to consumers on complaints received.

    Quality along the value chain

    • Ensures that Quality is part of all working instructions
    • Ensure all the elements of the Quality & Food safety system are in place and that processes are formalized & compliant with corporate / regulatory / customer requirements
    • Validates the consistency & effectiveness of processes described in procedures, as a support to daily performance management
    • Builds and steers a Plant Quality improvement plan, consistent with the CBU Quality Business Plan and Corporate Directives
    • Link product variability to manufacturing process control and set up procedures to help build knowledge through operators – transfer of quality ownership to operators
    • Develops process capability & Quality visual management at all steps of the process, i.e. incoming/production/maintenance, etc.
    • Through root cause analysis, eradicates critical problems with strong PDCA
    • Promotes Risk Assessment and “Build-in Quality” in all Plant projects: productivity, new products, new equipment.
    • Organizes audits vs internal and external referential and uses them as improvement opportunities.
    • Put in place with the production team a zoning approach to facilitates good housekeeping & hygiene practices
    • Quality skills & attitudes in all Plant teams
    • Combines a high reactivity to new problems with perseverant management of the medium term quality improvement plan
    • Organizes trainings and coach plant teams for daily quality management, particularly First Line Managers
    • Develops the Quality team and organizes training to close skills gaps
    • Builds a common Quality vision and related behaviours, shared by all the Plant teams
    • As a member of the Industrial Management team (IMT), contributes to the Plant performance as a whole

    Performance

    • Lead the implementation of an integrated management system (Food Safety, Quality, Environment) to ensure the improvement of the global performance and the development of a quality mindset.
    • Coordinates all the reporting of Quality KPI’s internally and to the Group & communicates them to all relevant stakeholders
    • Contributes to the plant performance vision and definition of targets
    • Facilitates quality committees and improvement action plans

    Costs

    • Manages budget related to the Plant quality function
    • Continuously identify cost efficient ways of working, cost saving opportunities and deliver the savings without compromising quality integrity of output

    Environment

    • Manage outsourced service providers such as for Cleaning & Pest Control and others as may be defined. Connect with the Waste management service providers through SHE.

    Safety

    • Drive departmental safety agenda and audits as well as identified action plans
    • Ensure quality department adherence to safety policies, procedures and processes

    COMPETENCIES REQUIRED (Technical & Behavioural)

    • Strong Problem solving skills

    • Solid experience in Quality & Food safety Management Systems
    • Good technical understanding of food science & technology, formulation, processing & equipment (Dairy-based recommended)
    • Basic knowledge of local food and food safety legislation & regulations
    • Advanced MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel). Data analysis & management, graphs, tables, etc.
    • SAP knowledge a plus
    • Ability to take decisions or make recommendations while assuming the associated risks
    • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, totally approachable and a strong team player
    • Strong change-management skills
    • Able to communicate and coach at all levels

    ABOUT YOU

    • Minimum 6 years’ experience within Quality discipline in a FMCG environment
    • Minimum 4 years leadership/management experience and having delivered tangible results within an integrated management system field.
    • Working experience in a processing & manufacturing environment. Very good knowledge of the applicable quality & food safety systems (ISO, FS22000, PRP’s, HACCP, GMP, etc.)  and the application thereof.

    ABOUT THE JOB

    To execute preventative maintenance and fix all breakdowns on the machines. Comply with GMP requirements.

    KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

    Quality

    • Ensure adherence to quality standards, procedures, policies and practices
    • Fix all breakdowns and execute preventative maintenance and/or scheduled maintenance, always adhering to high standards of workmanship
    • Adhere to HACCP and CIP protocols
    • Comply with housekeeping standards: ensure that work area and machinery is kept clean at all times, clean work areas and machinery as required

    Food Safety and Quality

    • Ensure adherence to Food Safety and Quality principles as included in the policies, procedures, product specifications and processes. This also includes general Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and hygiene practices.
    • Identify and report any potential Food Safety & Quality and GMP deviations and hazards.

    Costs

    • Ensure optimal functioning of the production line by executing preventative and reactive maintenance duties as per standard
    • Attend to breakdowns timeously, thereby reducing production downtime.
    • Minimize stoppages and increase plant availability by implementing plant maintenance strategies.
    • Execute maintenance tasks within budget (i.e., reduce spare parts consumption where possible and attempt to curtail costs associated with breakdowns)
    • Continuously identify cost effect ways of delivering world class service, identify cost saving initiatives and recommend improvements
    • Lead maintenance specific problem solving initiatives.
    • Complete required maintenance documentation: use information to analyse machine performance (i.e., establish trends, etc.)
