    Incoming Quality Technician - Port Elizabeth

    Job Description

    • Liaise with Tier1 Suppliers on their part supplier quality concerns. 
    • Make quality calls that are in line with the customer acceptance level. 
    • Raise quality concerns into Common Material Management System/GSAR and Supplier Improvement Metrix database for all concerns picked up. 
    • Pull part drawing / CAD to check suspect parts against specification. 
    • Raise Concern Reports for all concerns and follow up until closure with G8D's based on data. 
    • Review completed 8D reports with supplier. 
    • Review PFMEA, control plans with suppliers for defective parts. 
    • Review and analyze dimensional reports from suppliers including SPC. 
    • Set up and lead quality meetings with line quality engineers and STA. 
    • Set up monthly SAR with suppliers. 
    • Ability to raise chargeback against suppliers. 
    • Arrange shipment of parts back to suppliers. 
    • Co-ordinate part sorting in plant as well as at brake point from Tier1 supplier support production. 
    • Track all ageing part concerns - 30 days and more. 
    • Work with suppliers and 3rd parties inspecting suspect parts in plant. 
    • Sort parts for defects until supplier arrive at Ford to take over sorting function. 
    • Attend daily PIC room

    Responsibilities

    • Resolution of Quality concerns component supplier, Product Development, STA in a timely manner not to affect production output. 
    • Effective management of Audio and Visual meetings between affected parties. 
    • Managing conflict between affected parties. 
    • Decision making on liability of defect. 
    • Effective managing of suspect parts to protect customer. 
    • Managing of Quality reports tracking and binning. 
    • Successful campaign managing to resolve defective parts on engines. 
    • Near Miss Identification 
    • Daily start up checks in IPQ inspection area. 
    • Quarantine list to be updated. 
    • Manage 3rd parties and make sure safety files are updated. 
    • Ensure no aging pending rejects >30 days without escalation. 
    • Ensure team members follow up daily on open CR’s. 
    • Ensure binning of all CR before 30 days unless it is on dispute. 
    • Track 8D’s to ensure at 15 days is received, if not at D8 then IPQ need to have G8D up to D4 with action plans for completion. 

    Qualifications

    • National Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical engineering and Operation/Production management. 
    • Experience: Must have knowledge of IPQ processes and systems e.g. GSAR & CMMS - would be beneficial.

    CNC Machinist

    Job Description

    • Perform safety inspections using corporate tools and conduct safety talks, identify, and ensure that safety hazards and unsafe practices are promptly corrected.      
    • Set up and operate both conventional and CNC machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, radial drills, and bandsaws to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.
    • Preparing both rough sketches and detailed work with CAD (Edgecam, AutoCAD, Inventor).
    • Be responsible to produce all relevant fabrication drawings upon request to the relevant Ford standards and procedures.
    • Program the CNC machine both on the Controller as well as the programming software provided, inputting the design specifications, and ensuring the machine performs as required.
    • Select metals to be used from a range of metals based on properties such as hardness and heat tolerance.           
    • Ensure that all drawings and work instructions are kept up to date.
    • Breakdown assistance on the Production line to set up and operate drill presses to drill and tap holes in parts for assembly when required.
    • Smooth and polish flat and contoured surfaces of parts or tools, using scrapers, abrasive stones, files, emery cloths, or power grinders.  
    • Study and Interpret blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools or jigs.
    • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
    • Conduct regular Preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC machines, ensuring they operate smoothly and efficiently. Report non-conformance. 
    • Support continuous improvement actions with MIG welding assembly process.

    • CNC Programming Experience is essential (Advanced CNC Programming certificates required)

    • Excellent ability to design mechanical details using forementioned software in both legible 2D & 3D formats.

    Lead Quality Engineer

    Responsibilities

    • Implement interim and permanent corrective actions to resolve quality issues using 8D tool, 6 panel, etc.
    • Manage and direct statistical process control activities

    Health and Safety Engineer (Port Elizabeth)

    Responsibilities 

    • Ensure compliance to the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993  
    • Ensure compliance to Ford global safety standards
    • Ensure compliance to all applicable bylaws. 
    • The Engineer 2, Occupational Safety, working under general supervision and acting as a contributing team member, is responsible for applying technical safety standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to assist with solutions for occupational safety problems of moderate scope and complexity, such as hazard control and prevention, safety systems and equipment, compliance, risk, etc. with consistency in a timely manner. 
    • The role would support the plant-wide safety processes such as the company’s Safety Operating System (SOS) with the application of technical standards, principles, theories, and concepts. 
    • The role supports plant-wide safety processes including emergency procedure and planning, off-standard approvals and understanding, injury reporting and statistics, etc.
    • The role would also work with senior engineers and managers to contribute to the completion of milestones within specific projects as per function priorities.
    • Supports the implementation of the plant-wide safety processes including safety operating system, emergency response planning, safety training, and injury reporting and statistics.
    • Supports regular inspections and audits to identify and assess workplace hazards and risks and related issues such as monitoring safety equipment and systems, hazard identification and risk evaluation, engineering principles, preventive maintenance completion, and technical documentation.
    • Assists with industrial hygiene sampling and testing across the responsible facility calibrates and maintains associated testing equipment and communicates results to the relevant stakeholders.
    • Assists with analysis and review of plant requests for new equipment, off-standard approvals, digging and excavation, hot work etc. for safety concerns, and highlights findings to senior engineers.
    • Analyzes safety incidents, corrective actions, training hours etc. to report trends to senior Health and Safety management, regulatory compliance, and onsite plant management team.
    • Supports the development of company policies and practices to complete daily activities related to supporting, sustaining, and improving all safety programs, risk mitigation, investigations, reporting, etc. Liaises with the plant and network medical, security functions, and UAW Health & Safety Representatives.
    • Assists with the design and implementation of training programs across departments on the technical aspects of occupational safety issues such as hazardous materials management, machine guarding, industrial hygiene monitoring, manufacturing process safety, energy control, power lockout, root cause analysis, fire safety, new employee orientation etc. to prevent employee injuries and illnesses and the elimination of hazards in the work environment. Supports and actively participates with the training leader and operations to manage and ensure completion of all required health, safety, and ergonomic-related training.
    • Assists senior engineers in the delivery of internal Occupational Safety projects by applying technical principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to devise solutions to a variety of safety problems of moderate scope and complexity and contributes to the completion of project milestones. Recognizes when there is insufficient information to solve problems and brings the same to the attention of others.
    • Assists senior team members with the preparation of Occupational Safety-specific communications and standards as per established processes to encourage the adoption of Safety practices, focused on incident avoidance and regulatory compliance.
