    Human Resources Intern -ER

    The main responsibilities of the job:

    Instrument Mechanician

    As an Instrument Mechanician, you will be responsible for:

    • Preventative maintenance as per maintenance schedules
    • Fault finding, repairs and maintenance on Instrumentation / Control Systems
    • Calibration of all field instrumentation to ISO standards
    • Ensuring that damaged, ageing, and redundant equipment is replaced / removed timeously
    • Assisting in installation and commissioning of all new projects from field to DCS.

    Transport Planner - Durban

    As a Transport Planner you will be responsible for:

    • Plan fleet utilisation and ensure that contractor operations are optimized for transport efficiencies and reducing downtime
    • Verify transport routes for contractor to eliminate potential downtime and fleet efficiencies
    • Generate daily operational plans for contractor for the dispatching of trucks and loaders in order to maximise fleet efficiency
    • Load daily plans into various tracking and monitoring software platforms i.e. Quartex and Mixtelematics
    • Ensure visibility of fleets and live tracking through various platforms
    • Determine route standards for trips (including backhaul information) by monitoring tracking information using Mixtelematics to ensure compliance to contractor key performance indicators (KPI)
    • Monitor, flag, report compliance to route standards and all other transport contract KPI’s that affect overall efficiencies of fleets and deliveries to marke
    • Enforce respective mill quality specifications and ensure all in-spec timber reported complies with market requirements with regards to timber specifications, physical attributes and housekeeping requirements
    • Enforce route standards on all deliveries to markets and manage deviations to ensure compliance
    • Capture daily, weekly and monthly plans are captured accurately in the various platforms to ensure seamless and accurate tracking, reporting
    • Calculate fuel efficiencies of fleets based on their fuel consumptions
    • Monitor and track daily, weekly, and monthly fuel usage from fleets
    • Ensure all systems are up to date with various improvements and software updates
    • Liaise with programmers and IT to continuously improve functionality and reporting capabilities
    • Ensure all plans comply and highlight operational safety issues
    • Validate plan to ensure all depots and loading sites are safe and is conducive for safe transporting activities
    • Reconcile sales vs orders per contractor daily by drawing relevant Timber Control System (TCS) reports to ensure all contractor orders are completed
    • Verify timber sales as per TCS report to ensure all loads are captured
    • Maintain transport contractor uptime reports weekly to ensure compliance to contractor KPI
    • Verify depot to market leads with GIS/Contractors by monitoring tracking to ensure compliance with KPI’s
    • Calculate rejection costs as and when rejections occur using the reject cost calculator to ensure the costs are recovered from the relevant contractor
    • Verify delivery notes timber despatch advice (TDA’s) against small market sales reflected in Timber Control System (TCS) to ensure all loads are captured
    • Provide Transport Manager with verified uptime reports and loading tons timeously for monthly invoicing
    • Manages Transport controllers and the execution of their duties

    What are we looking for?

    • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Transportation, or a related field
    • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or other for algorithm development and automation.
    • Up to 3 years’ relevant experience

    Engineer: Boilers

    As an Engineer: Boilers, you will be responsible for:

    • Develop, implement, and maintain standards to increase boiler plant and equipment reliability and safe operation
    • Complete failure analysis of plant and equipment  as per plant standard, identify probable root cause and ensure close-out
    • Inspect the internal condition of the boiler during shut down in relation to the AIA to obtain a COC after any modification and repair
    • Manage boiler inspection reports and repair data books
    • Assist the Maintenance Manager with long-term maintenance planning, budgeting, capex, maintenance, and project work execution
    • Provide weekly feedback to the Maintenance Manager on boiler performance, unresolved engineering problems, monthly projects report, investigations undertaken, and the status 
    • Support ISO9000 (Quality Management system), ISO14001 (Environmental Management standards), ISO50001 (Energy Management System), and OHSAS18000 (Health and Safety Management System) for engineering in the section. Educate the team on the requirements and monitor adherence to standards, policies, procedures, and work instructions
    • Participate in the development of safe work procedures for the section, perform critical task analysis, guide and monitor the team on correct isolation and lockout procedures when performing maintenance work

    What are we looking for?

    • 5 years of Boiler and turbine experience
    • Experience within the pulp and paper industry would be considered advantageous
    • NQF level 7 Engineering Qualification (BSc / BEng / BTech in Mechanical Engineering)
    • GCC (Factories) or permission to write will be considered advantageous
    • Management Development Programme (MDP) or relevant management qualification will be considered advantageous

    Technician - Aircon ERP

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Identify, report, and resolve irregularities in air-conditioning and refrigeration maintenance and installation
    • Collaborate in the MDT team to investigate and resolve equipment failures
    • Conduct inspections and report defects, failures, and anomalies to the Foreman
    • Perform maintenance tasks according to work instructions, best practices, and manufacturer manuals at Ngodwana
    • Troubleshoot plant and equipment issues causing production stoppages or reduced capacity

    Shift Millwright - Ngodwana

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Assign, schedule, and complete maintenance tasks and opportunities.
    • Improve master data accuracy and assist with work scoping.
    • Report plant defects and downtime to the Foreman.
    • Share knowledge and coach peers on plant-specific procedures.

    Analyst II - Chemical Sciences

    As an Analyst II you will be responsible for:

    • Perform chemical analyses and deliver accurate testing by following predefined work procedures in the laboratory in support of product quality control, research or product development purposes and routine analysis
    • Plan, coordinate and execute experiments and chemical analyses based on a daily and weekly laboratory schedule as per established test procedures, work instructions and prescribed experimental conditions. Take over the analyses assigned to other team members in case of backlogs due to slow work or absence.
    • Optimise the use of the correct equipment, materials, chemicals and consumables for the type of test according to work instructions and time constraints
    • Record all experiment results, trials and investigations in the prescribed format on log sheets and in notebooks. Consolidate the experiment results as per prescribed format.
    • Perform daily quality checks on a sample of the work performed by Analyst I and guide the improvement of analyses and the logging of results.
    • Review unusual test results and deviations from the Analyst I and guide on how to correct  
    • Train junior and new employees on the chemical safety data sheets for the chemicals used in experiments
    • Conduct daily inspection to ensure work area and laboratory equipment are clean and neat.
    • Read research or project proposals for own understanding before starting the analysis as designed by the technician or scientist.
    • Monitor and maintain stock levels of consumables, consumables include gloves, glassware, paper towels, plastic bags etc.
    • Make suggestions to the supervisor on how consumables and chemicals could be reduced to save cost.
    • Assemble standard laboratory equipment components using pre-defined standards.
    • Perform internal calibration and validations of laboratory equipment such as dosimats, dispensers, ovens, burettes, water baths and balances and record in respective logbooks.
    • Act as the first line of support if standard laboratory equipment has a fault. Identify the issue and resolve if possible. If the issue is more complex, refer to the supervisor's resolution.
    • Log own work hours against assigned projects in the prescribed logging system.
    • Provide input to the supervisor on the structure of the weekly work schedule by giving an opinion of the capabilities and the capacity of the junior members of the team.
    • Use the correct personal protective equipment (PPE) as stated in the laboratory procedures for each type of experiment or test.
    • Store the PPE correctly by hygiene requirements and to preserve the condition of the PPE. Report defective PPE to the Laboratory Technician immediately. Request replacement PPE – do not work with defective equipment.
    • Dispose of waste according to the correct procedures in designated bins.
    • Report hazards, unsafe acts and unsafe conditions to the supervisor immediately.
    • Participate in departmental safety meetings to share safety moments.

    What are we looking for?

    • Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science.
    • Diploma or equivalent NQF level 6 qualification in a relevant field such as Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology or Pulp and Paper would be an advantage.
    • A valid driver's licence (Code B) would be advantageous.
    • 2-years’ relevant experience.

    Fitter - Ngodwana

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform mechanical maintenance on plant equipment, with a focus on gearboxes, pumps, screens, bearings, and chain drives.
    • Plan and execute maintenance activities for designated plant areas in accordance with Notifications and Planned Schedules.
    • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues during breakdowns, ensuring swift repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
    • Conduct detailed daily and weekly inspections of plant equipment to ensure optimal performance.
    • Provide standby coverage for after-hours and weekend breakdowns, promptly reporting any deviations to the Maintenance Support Mechanical (Foreman).
    • Report all unsafe acts and conditions to the Maintenance Support Mechanical to ensure workplace safety.
    • Participate in Behavioral-Based Safety programs to promote a safety-first culture.
    • Use SAP to request and withdraw required spare parts from stores for maintenance tasks.
    • Maintain and update Master Data in SAP, adhering to work order processes and ensuring accurate documentation.

    What are we looking for?

    • A recognised Trade Test Certificate as a Mechanical Fitter or Fitter and Turner.
    • Possess a Grade 12 qualification with Maths and Science or a N3 Engineering qualification.
    • Preferably have 2 years of post-apprenticeship experience in a heavy engineering environment.
    • Must have a valid Driving Licence

    Winder Operator KLB

    As a Winder Operator KLB , you will be responsible for:

    • Prepares equipment for start-up and shutdown procedures.
    • Operates Overhead crane to load reels onto unwind stand.
    • Sets up and checks slitter knives, ensuring they are sharp and undamaged, as well as inspecting drive drums and motors.
    • Feeds paper through Winder machine.
    • Removes side runs using OTIS lift to basement.
    • Ensures availability of correct-sized cores at Winder during shift.
    • Ejects empty spools and loads new Jumbo onto back stand.
    • Transfers paper webs onto conveyor system in front of Winder.

    What are we looking for:

    • Grade 12 (Maths and Science) or N3 Pulp and Paper.
    • Minimum 1 year experience working on a Paper Machine manufacturing process.
