    Donor Recruiter

    Introduction

    • An opportunity has become available for a Donor Recruiter. The incumbent will be responsible to recruit and educate all donors ensuring targets are met, to maintain a sustainable and safe blood supply.

    Job description

    KPA 1 Customer Stakeholder

    • Participates in donor recruitment pilot studies which may be run at specific blood drives.
    • Attends to donor queries and complaints, and reports follow up required to Donor Relations Practitioner.
    • Provides feedback to the Donor Relations Practitioner and Donor Educator related to educational needs i.e. talks required etc.
    • Assists with arranging donor marketing functions such as media launches, donor awards and controller functions.

    KPA 2 Internal Processes

    • Delivers advertising material i.e. flyers, posters, banners and boards prior to the blood drive when required.
    • Makes contact with the blood drive controller / peer promoters and confirms that all arrangements are in order.
    • Arranges a more suitable venue in conjunction with the clinic supervisor if venue provided on the day is not suitable and includes information on the recruiter’s report form.
    • Displays advertising material and directional arrows to enhance visibility of the blood drive
    • Recruits and educates blood donors to ensure collection targets are met.
    • Highlights risk behaviour posters to donors to ensure safe, quality blood supply.
    • Receives and welcomes blood donors on their arrival at the blood drive in a friendly and professional manner.
    • Puts donors at ease to ensure they have a good donation experience.
    • Issues donor information pamphlets and ensures that donors understand the need to read and comprehend the information.
    • Monitors the flow of the blood drive with guidance from clinic supervisor to reduce the waiting time

    Qualified Blood Bank Technician

    • Receive reagents and proficiency tests and store them in designated areas at the correct temperature.

    • Collect and place medical waste containers in the designated area daily for removal and disposal by the approved waste removal company.
    • Check weighing of waste by the waste disposal company.

    KPA 2 Instrument and Laboratory Maintenance

    • Perform daily cleaning of work area, cold rooms, fridges, freezers and all blood banking equipment according to SOP and record the information.
    • Check that all equipment and instrumentation is in working order. Report any defects to the Supervisor.
    • Monitor the temperature of all equipment used to store blood and blood products and record the information. Report any problems to the Supervisor.

    KPA 3 Quality and Risk Objectives

    • Ensure that all policies, documentation and SOPs are read, understood and maintain competency.
    • Comply with Standard of practice, SHEQ and accreditation requirements.
    • Contribute to and participate in continuous safety and quality improvement.
    • Perform processes to ensure that the number of minor and major deficiencies amount to less than the agreed amount per site.

    Blood Bank Technologist

    KPA 1 Operational Objectives

    • Report situations where the critical and non-critical consumables are not available after hours to the Blood Bank (BB) Supervisor.
    • Deputise for Shift Supervisor/BB Supervisor when absent or unavailable.
    • Receive reagents and proficiency tests and store them in designated areas at the correct temperature.

    Dispose of waste according to SOP:

    • Prepare documentation for waste traceability:

    KPA 2 Specialist Technical functions

    • Check and verify test results performed by registered technicians, registered trainee technicians and registered student technologists.
    • Assist BB Supervisor with training and competency assessments.
    • Perform secondary testing, including but not limited to, problem cross matches, postnatal, antibody investigations and preliminary transfusion reaction investigations within required timeframes and according to SOP specifications.

    KPA 3 Quality and Risk Objectives

    • Check equipment to ensure that all instrumentation and equipment is in working order according to SOP criteria.
    • Check blood and blood product stock levels, including identifying and reporting of expired units.
    • Ensure that all policies, documents and relevant SOP’s are read and understood and maintain competency for the stipulated standard operating procedures.
    • Comply with standards of practice, accreditation, QC testing, proficiency testing and safety requirements and contribute to and participate in continuous quality improvement.
    • Strive to remain well informed of current developments to promote knowledge sharing as well as to ensure acquisition of required CPD points according to IPA specifications.
    • Assist the BB Supervisor with Risk tasks allocated within the agreed timeframes.

    KPA 4 Instrument and Laboratory Maintenance

    • Perform daily cleaning of work area, cold rooms, fridges, freezers and all blood banking equipment according to SOP and record the information.

    Fixed Assets Administrator

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (KPAS)

    KPA 1: Maintain Fixed Assets Register in Own Area of Business by Updating Register In Accordance with Standard Accounting Practices.

    KPI

    • Creation of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
    • Create WBS for out of budget CAPEX requirements, and send for approval by relevant managers in Finance.
    • Create asset numbers from approved WBS as required by End-users to allow shopping cart creation.
    • Approve the Shopping carts on SRM system and liaise with Procurement and End users for updates.
    • Maintain Fixed Asset Register according to the Fixed Asset Management Policy by:
    • Co-ordination of the company wide annual fixed asset verification.
    • Counting all physical assets in own zone (CK).
    • Barcode all assets within own zone (CK).
    • Update SAP system accordingly.
    • Transfer of Fixed assets between cost centres as advised by cost centre managers.
    • Scrapping of Fixed Assets from SAP system disposing of such Assets as required from time to time by relevant cost centre managers. 
    • Ensuring all disposal and transfer forms are adequately authorised.
    • Administer sale of Fixed Asset process according to the relevant SOP.
    • Compile all documentation pertaining to Fixed Assets (Transfer / Scrapping) as per standard accounting practices and SANBS company policy for auditing purposes and maintain documentation on record.
    • Constantly Monitor certain critical assets e.g. motor vehicles, laptops and leasehold improvements etc. this information will be updated on the required IT systems. 
    • Compile and issue reports to Cost Centre owners on any irregularities found during asset verification with regards to transfers / scrapping not recorded and / or authorized at the time. 

    KPA 2: Maintains Good Customer Relationships by On-Going Communication and Information Sharing to Achieve Operational Objectives in Own Area of Operations

    • Arrange with relevant departments on all matters pertaining to movement of assets with own zone (including new assets, transfer and scrapings)
    • Track all requests for capital expenditure from the user until the Purchase Order is placed with the supplier. 
    • Meet with cost centre managers within your Zone as required to facilitate site visits for auditing purposes. 
    • Arrange meetings as required with relevant departments to resolve queries (including purchasing of new assets, scrapping and disposing) timeously.
