    Candidate Legal Practitioners (Candidate Attorneys)

    Duties

    Entering into, and abiding by, the required tripartite contract of service learning with a principal attorney and the Legal Practice Council. Duties include:

    • Providing support to other practitioners within the firm on all aspects of legal practice;
    • Assisting in the preparation of matters for trials or hearings;
    • Conducting research and preparing legal opinions;
    • Attending consultations with clients, witnesses and experts;
    • Attending court appearances, including pre-trial conferences and trial proceedings;
    • Liaising with counsel, experts, clients and opponents;
    • Attending to the day-to-day management of files under the supervision of other practitioners
    • Drafting agreements, letters and other legal documents;
    • Assisting and supporting students as well as any teaching offered by the Law Clinic;
    • Conducting other daily administrative and legal practices.

    Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes

    • An LLB qualification;
    • Verbal and written fluency in English and Afrikaans, or English and IsiXhosa;
    • Good legal writing skills;
    • The ability to work as part of a team and independently;
    • The ability and willingness to work outside office hours, including on weekends as may be required from time to time;
    • The ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships;
    • The ability to work under pressure;
    • The ability to work on own initiative;
    • Sharing the values upon which the Law Clinic is founded;
    • The ability to function effectively in a multicultural environment.

    Creative Content Producer: Marketing

     

    Duties

    • Producing targeted, brand-aligned content and messaging plans, underpinned by the Vision 2040 and the Brand Positioning Strategy, that reflects and adheres to Stellenbosch University's tone of voice and brand personality;
    • Producing engaging, clear content, including copy for different platforms and channels such as print and digital adverts, videos, mailers and invitations, and brochures;
    • Producing and proposing brand-aligned content for a variety of internal stakeholders;
    • Implementing communication strategies with the marketing and corporate communications teams to create comprehensive communication plans that align with the overall marketing objectives and target audiences;
    • Enhancing brand awareness of institutional and flagship events through compelling messaging, event coverage and the optimisation of content cadence;
    • Assisting with concept development of brand communication and marketing campaigns, aligned to the brand positioning strategy and annual plans;
    • Interpreting creative direction and turning it into persuasive content;
    • Collaborating with the design team to create visually appealing and on-brand marketing collateral;
    • Conducting market research to identify preferences, trends, and competitors' activities to inform brand-led campaigns and activities;
    • Preparing reports and providing insights to optimise brand communication and improve results;
    • Organising and managing digital brand assets including articles, adverts, video, and graphics.

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a reputable advertising school or tertiary institution;
    • Five years' experience in communication, branding, or marketing;
    • A strong trackrecord of producing copy for advertising or marketing campaigns across multiple platforms;
    • Exceptional skills in campaign content writing, including scriptwriting for video content;
    • Proven success in implementing digital strategies or campaigns;
    • Proficiency in the MS Office suite, Adobe suite (especially InDesign and Photoshop), and digital or content management platforms, such as WordPress, Everlytic(will be advantageous), and CRM, among others;
    • Experience with SEO, advertising and copywriting: storytelling, creative content, short-form, and long-form text;
    • Creativity, adaptability, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team;
    • A portfolio of writing samples, which demonstrates creativity and skills.

    Technical Assistant

    Duties

    • Supporting and assisting the Principal Technical Officer;
    • Assisting with practical work for various undergraduate courses, particularly with the preparation of undergraduate practicals;
    • Supporting academic staff and undergraduate students;
    • Maintaining and cleaning laboratories, instruments and glassware;
    • Controlling and managing laboratory apparatus, chemical waste and chemical stores;
    • Performing routine safety inspections and assisting with laboratory safety;
    • Regularly replacing consumables in the laboratories;
    • Performing ad hoc administrative work.

    Job Requirements

    • Matric certificate or an equivalent technical qualification;
    • At least two years' practical work experience gained within a comparable laboratory environment;
    • Knowledge of analytical equipment and management of general chemicals;
    • Good communication skills in English.

    Recommendation

    • Matric certificate subjects such as physical sciences and mathematics;
    • Interest in chemistry;
    • Willingness to learn new skills and to undergo futher training;
    • Computer literate;
    • The ability to work independently and under pressure;
    • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team.
