    Client Service Consultant (Two posts)

    Duties  

    • Efficient and client friendly handling of all calls, emails, webchats, and social media posts received by the Stellenbosch University's Client Service Centre;
    • Providing a professional and welcoming experience for walk-in enquiries at the Enquiries Desk;
    • Keeping informed of all relevant information pertaining to prospective students and current student affairs to ensure that accurate information is provided;
    • Building the reputation and brand of the University by ensuring a positive customer experience;
    • Adhering to all quality assurance benchmarks and standard operating procedures to ensure an excellent and consistent customer experience;
    • Meeting the set targets in terms of contacts handled;
    • Effective handling and escalation of sensitive queries as per the provided guidelines;
    • Maintaining effective and constructive professional relationships with internal stakeholders within the University to identify trends in customer queries.

    Job Requirements        

    • A university degree or equivalent qualification (NQF 7);
    • Excellent and professional written and verbal communication skills in English and Afrikaans, OR excellent and professional written and verbal communication skills in English with proficiency in  another official South African language other than Afrikaans or English being recommended;
    • At least one year of client service experience in a call centre environment (but not in marketing or sales);
    • Excellent customer service skills (including questioning/clarifying, probing, listening, and building good relationships);
    • Knowledge and understanding of the customer engagement needs of students and their parents;
    • The ability to effectively handle calls, emails, webchats, social media posts, and walk-in clients with professionalism, accuracy and empathy;

    Clinical Nurse Practitioner (Two Posts)

    Duties/Pligte        

    • Providing comprehensive health care (preventative and curative) to staff and students on all the campuses of Stellenbosch University (SU) as part of a multi-professional team;
    • Providing emergency care to patients;
    • Providing nursing support services at sport and other events on all SU campuses (which includes availability after-hours and on public holidays on rotation according to a roster basis);
    • Dispensing medications (as defined by your scope of practice) and administering of adult immunisations;
    • Performing operational management and administrative responsibilities, as determined by the multi-professional team within Campus Health as a unit;
    • Participating in appropriate institutional activities which impact on service delivery (e.g., institutional presentations, seminars, workshops, etc.);
    • Developing innovative and occupational-specific processes and programmes to continuously improve service delivery at CHS.

    Job Requirements    

    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Clinical Nurse Practitioner;
    • A postgraduate qualification in Primary Health Care (PHC);
    • At least seven to ten years' experience as a Professional Registered Nurse;
    • Certificate in the dispensing of medicine;
    • A valid South African driver's licence;
    • Appropriate experience in the use of information technology;
    • Demonstrable planning and organisational skills;
    • Problem-solving skills on a clinical and team functioning level;

    Fitter and Turner - Faculty of Engineering Department of Chemical Engineering

    Duties

    • Involved with the building of new apparatus and equipment as well as upgrading and modification of existing apparatus in cooperation with undergraduate and postgraduate students for their respective experimental projects;
    • Building, upgrading and modifying  apparatus for undergraduate practicals;
    • Maintaining and servicing departmental infrastructure and equipment in the laboratories and workshop;
    • Turning and machining, fitting, pipe installations, welding and sheet metal work;
    • Providing support to technical and workshop staff;
    • Being a p of the Department's occupational health and safety team;
    • Performing other technical tasks and providing assistance that may sometimes be required by management, within reason and in accordance with the skills of the specific post level.

    Job Requirements   

    • Matric and an appropriate N3 qualification or higher;
    • Artisan with appropriate qualifications for executing duties listed above;
    • Proven competence as an artisan, with at least three years' recent practical experience relevant to the duties described above;
    • General technical skills and proven previous practical and technical work experience in a workshop environment;

    Researcher: Autoimmune Disease Modelling

    Duties    

    • Participating in planning and conducting research that leads to research outputs;
    • Supervising postgraduate students in thesis-based postgraduate programmes;
    • Co-managing the Zebrafish Husbandry Unit;
    • Representing The Experimental Medicine Group at scientific meetings;
    • Facilitating learning and training (including teaching, mentoring and guiding postgraduate students) in theoretical and practical aspects of Disease Modelling and Drug Discovery;
    • Planning, organising and facilitating learning opportunities;
    • Involvement in community interaction activities.

     Job Requirements    

    • PhD in Physiology or closely related discipline in the health sciences;
    • At least two years' post-doctoral research experience;
    • A published track record of both pre-clinical and clinical research experience in the context of autoimmune disease;
    • Published evidence of your ability to develop clinically relevant disease models in cells, rodents and zebrafish;
    • Comprehensive knowledge of zebrafish husbandry practices, including related legislation;
    • Good communication and supervision skills;
    • The ability to function well within a team.

    Professor / Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer: Robotics and Control Systems

    Duties    

    • Contributing towards the planning, administration and teaching of innovative, research-led taughtmodules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, specifically in the field of specialised control systems and robotics;
    • Supervising and assessing final year projects, research theses and dissertations at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the fields of robotics for mining and control systems;
    • Performing basic and/or applied research focused on relevant research areas within the robotics in mining research area;
    • Publishing high-quality research articles and reviews in international and local peer-reviewed academic journals, conferences and other appropriate forms of research output;
    • Disseminating research results to a wide audience by organising and participating in workshops, seminars and conferences;
    • Attracting significant additional funding for research contracts and grants from research councils, international commissions and other funding agencies, including government organisations, industry and charities;
    • Attracting and developing a high-profile research team of research staff and postgraduate students, specifically in the field of robotics in mining;
    • Contributing towards the excellence of the research culture of the Faculty and University;
    • Initiating short-, medium- and long-term capacity building initiatives and projects for the industry;
    • Collaborating with existing research partners within the Departments, and building contacts with other universities, industry and government organisations to promote research and development programmes in the robotics in mining fields at Stellenbosch University;
    • Performing supportive, administrative and representative roles within and outside the Department.

    Job Requirements      

    • An applicable Bachelor's degree (BEng or BScEng) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, as required by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) to qualify for registration as a Professional Engineer;
    • An appropriate Master's degree (typically MEng or MScEng) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering from a recognised academic university.

    (For Senior Lecturer):

    • An appropriate PhD in Engineering from an accredited national or international tertiary institution in the fields of control systems or robotics, with at least five years' experience in at a tertiary education environment, OR at least eight years' proven experience in industry in the fields of control systems, robotics, or mining.

    (For Associate Professor):

     

    • An appropriate PhD in Engineering from an accredited national or international tertiary institution with at least eight years' experience at a tertiary education environment in the fields of control systems or robotics;
    • Proven ability to conduct research and publish in peer-reviewed, international journals and conference proceedings in the fields of control systems or robotics.

    (For Professor):

    • An appropriate PhD in Engineering from an accredited national or international tertiary institution with at least ten years' experience at a tertiary education environment in the fields of control systems or robotics;
    • Proven ability to conduct research and publish in peer-reviewed, international journals and conference proceedings in the fields of control systems or robotics.
    • Registered as a professional engineer, or compliant with the criteria for registration as a professional engineer;
    • The ability to communicate clearly in at least English;
    • The ability to teach courses and modules as part of the typical undergraduate engineering programme as described in the duties above;
    • A solid knowledge of and experience in the field of control systems or robotics;
    • A strong academic track-record;
    • Good interpersonal and organisational skills.

    Manager: Hybrid Learning

    Duties   

    • The strategic management of the HL offering (credit-bearing and edX) in line with the strategic goals, intent and vision of SU;
    • Achieving the project goals and milestones of the SU HL project and then transitioning and further managing the project into a sustainable service to SU;
    • The overall business management of HL;
    • Effective human resource management, including the development of a personnel plan and the appointment of staff;
    • Developing a sustainable marketing strategy for HL in collaboration with relevant internal and external stakeholders;
    • Developing and continuously monitoring a change management plan for HL;

    Committee Officer - Centre for Governance Function Support

    Duties

    • Providing professional and effective service to the SU Council, Senate, Institutional Forum and their committees;
    • Information management (dissemination information and resolutions in a suitable and timely way and record-keeping);
    • Committee administration and facilitation, including drawing up agendas and document bundles for meetings, keeping to strict timelines, logistical arrangements regarding meetings (e.g., scheduling), effective running of the meetings, advising on procedures and other governance aspects, taking minutes and writing reports, communicating resolutions, ensuring that the action list after the meeting has been executed timeously, and archiving;
