    Senior Technical Accountant

    OVERALL PURPOSE 

    • Reporting to the Consolidation Finance Manager the Senior Technical Accountant will be responsible for the complete month end close process of entities across the Group. Including the preparation of financial records under IFRS, financial statements, preparing and submitting relevant tax filings and providing financial information to stakeholders across the Group, enabling them to make budgeting and investments decisions. This role will also be responsible for preparing technical accounting papers, managing the financial aspects of Group projects/initiatives and presenting this information to auditors and Directors. 

    PRINCIPAL ELEMENTS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
    Project leadership

    • Lead or support ad hoc Group Finance related projects as required
    • Support the implementation and embedding of new policies, processes and controls

    Technical Projects

    • Project mange the technical accounting / group reporting for various Group projects including acquisitions and disposals
    • Prepare technical accounting papers for management and auditors on transactions, documenting issues clearly and comprehensively 
    • Lead and perform technical accounting research, keeping up to date with changes in IFRS guidance
    • Collaborate with auditors to support technical accounting positions and disclosures.
    • Provide guidance to internal teams on the accounting implications of business decisions

    Entity Accounting

    • Own the month-end and year-end close process for assigned legal entities
    • Complete bank reconciliations for the bank accounts of specific Group entities on a weekly and monthly basis to ensure that the cash records are correct
    • Prepare the monthly accruals and provision journals
    • Preparing the monthly profit and loss, and balance sheet reports
    • Preparing the supporting balance sheet reconciliations for all the balance sheet balances
    • Ensure that the intercompany balances are reconciled and settled timeously 
    • Understand and adhere to all financial and accounting regulations and legislation
    • Input into the calculation of local and Group service level agreements
    • Prepare year-end statutory financial statements
    • Liaison with auditors
    • Support the consolidation finance manager with the monthly consolidation and reporting

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Qualified chartered accountant (SAICA) 
    • Previous experience in Group roles, with multi-jurisdictional entities and intercompany transactions
    • Previous financial services experience
    • Good knowledge of different jurisdictional tax requirements is advantageous

    COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS

    • Strong technical accounting skills
    • Good knowledge of different accounting systems — knowledge of Microsoft Business Central is advantageous
    • Strong Excel skills (knowledge of macros, Power Pivot and Power BI would be an advantage)
    • Experience in preparing financial statements and technical accounting papers for presentation to boards and auditors
    • Excellent planning and organizational skills
    • Very good attention to detail and an organised logical approach is essential
    • Proactive and solutions oriented
    • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet tight deadlines

    Middle Office Officer - Client Services

    OVERALL PURPOSE 

    • To provide comprehensive administrative support across client onboarding, compliance, data management, and fund externalisation processes, ensuring operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. The role requires close collaboration with Relationship Management, Investment Management, Group Finance, Banking and Compliance teams as well as coordination with colleagues across the broader Stonehage Fleming Group. 

    PRINCIPAL ELEMENTS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES 
    Client Onboarding 

    • Support Front Office teams with the New Business Approval process. 
    • Coordinate compliance approvals for onboarding new clients or expanding services for existing clients. 
    • Draft and prepare client agreements for signature. 
    • Initiate and manage client creation workflows in the internal client database. 
    • Ensure all business and regulatory requirements are met, including proper execution of agreements and completion of Customer Due Diligence (CDD) in line with company policy. 

    Client Administration 

    • Complete and submit internal and external account opening applications. 
    • Process updates to clients’ static data. 
    • Manage and retain client data and documentation in electronic formats. 
    • Continuously review and improve administrative processes to enhance efficiency and compliance. 

    Fund Externalization 

    • Collect and submit required documentation for tax clearance via third-party providers. 
    • Prepare and submit applications to the South African Revenue Service (SARS) and the South African Reserve Bank (SARB). 
    • Obtain client mandates and indemnities to facilitate foreign exchange transactions. 
    • Liaise with internal transaction teams to coordinate trade execution and FX rate bookings where required. 
    • Maintain accurate internal records of all externalization transactions. 

    Client Records Administration 

    • Review and verify Customer Due Diligence (CDD) documentation 
    • Ensure all client agreements are in place and properly stored 
    • Maintain accurate client and third-party data in internal systems 
    • Complete and document risk assessments where required 
    • Keep client profiles up to date and in line post the new business approval process 

    Ad Hoc Duties 

    • Participate in projects and provide administrative support as required 

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

    • Relevant diploma or degree, or 
    • 2–4 years’ experience in a similar administrative or operations role

    Banking & Investment Support Team Leader

    OVERALL PURPOSE

    • The individual will manage and supervise the workload of the Investment Support team and to ensure a high quality and consistent client service. The individual will be responsible for overseeing the execution of instructions and various administrative tasks around investment management in an accurate way and by respecting appropriate deadlines.

    PRINCIPAL ELEMENTS & ACCOUNTABILITIES
    INVESTMENT SUPPORT

    • Preparing subscription/redemption instructions for Alternative Investments (Single Hedge Funds, Private Equity Funds, Property Funds etc)
    • Inputting non-automated investment transactions in our in house integrated database systems
    • Keeping line by line and non-automated client’s investment accounting up to date
    • Posting Journal entries of all subscription postings and redemptions
    • Managing and executing instructions like corporate actions, proxy votes, conversions, capital calls and distributions
    • Collating KYC, FATCA, CRS and compliance documentation for fund administrators and other third parties
    • Preparing and approving SWIFT payment instructions
    • Reconciliation of investment positions and working on reconciliation breaks
    • Assign daily and periodic responsibilities related to subscription/redemption processing, investment transaction input, and reconciliation tasks.
    • Manage and provide leadership to a team of Investment Support officers 
    • Monitor workload distribution to ensure balanced task management and timely execution of client instructions.
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Appropriate degree or higher diploma and 5 to 8 years of experience in working in the financial industry would be an advantage
    • STEP qualifications would be an advantage but at least a good understand of basic information re Offshore Trust and Company and the relationship between Trust and Company, Trustee and Beneficiaries 
    • Team management experience required
    • Knowledge and understanding of Double Entry Bookkeeping and Multi-Currency accounting
    • Knowledge and understanding of Financial Products

    Group Accountant

    OVERALL PURPOSE 

    • Reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager the Group Accountant will be responsible for the complete month end close process of several international entities across the Group. Including the preparation of financial records under IFRS, financial statements, preparing and submitting relevant tax filings and providing financial information to stakeholders across the Group, enabling them to make budgeting and investments decisions.

    PRINCIPAL ELEMENTS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Complete or review bank reconciliations for the bank accounts of specific Group entities on a weekly and monthly basis to ensure that the cash records are correct
    • Liaise with the billing team to ensure that they have completed the billing, WIP accruals, bad debt provisions and income split journals for assigned Group entities each month
    • Liaise with the accounts payable team to ensure that expenses, prepayments and fixed assets additions are booked correctly each month
    • Check that the accounts payable team has posted expenses to the correct department versus budget
    • Prepare the monthly accruals and provision journals
    • Prepare month payroll journals for assigned entities
    • Completion of IFRS 16 lease accounting journals for relevant entities
    • Preparing the monthly profit and loss, and balance sheet reports
    • Preparing the supporting balance sheet reconciliations for all the balance sheet balances
    • Ensure that the intercompany balances are reconciled and settled timeously 
    • Understand and adhere to all financial and accounting regulations and legislation
    • Complete VAT and Tax returns, for the appropriate countries' tax authority within the required deadlines
    • Assist with the completion of regulatory returns and provide data to the regulatory reporting team for monthly regulatory capital updates
    • Input into the calculation of local and Group service level agreements
    • Preparation and review of weekly cash flow forecasts
    • Prepare board report packs including financial analysis and commentary
    • Prepare year-end statutory financial statements for several entities
    • Liaison with auditors
    • Respond to ad hoc financial queries by gathering and interpreting data
    • Support ad hoc Group Finance related projects as required

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Qualified accountant (SAIPA or CIMA) 
    • Previous IFRS experience
    • Good knowledge of different jurisdictional tax requirements is advantageous
    • Previous financial services experience
    • Regulatory filings experience
