    Law Enforcement Inspector (REF: COR 104)

    Requirements:

    • Grade 12
    • Accredited Law Enforcement qualification at an accredited institution (Peace Officer Certificate).
    • 5-8 years, of which 2 - 3 years must be supervisory experience.
    • Valid Code EB driver's license
    • Firearm Proficiency Certificate.
    • No criminal record.
    • Good human relations, interpersonal, and communication skills.
    • High level of responsibility and ability to give attention to detail.
    • Ability to work under pressure and to handle conflict.
    •  Must be fit and healthy to carry out duties.
    • Good eyesight, hearing and speech ability

    Duties:

    Job purpose:

    •  Assist the immediate superior to supervise the Law Enforcement  Section through the planning and control of operational functionality and its outcomes.;
    • To ensure command and control, discipline is maintained on a functional level in his capacity as a shift supervisor.; Coordinate and control the implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting sequences of outcomes associated with plans and programmes designed to accomplish key service delivery objectives with respect to Law Enforcement.;
    • Coordinate operations in conjunction with the immediate superior that is associated with the enforcement of Laws and municipal by-laws. ; Performs activities /tasks relating to those of a Peace Officer to enforce municipal regulations.
    • Plans and schedules law enforcement operations in collaboration with the immediate superior
    • Monitors and controls procedural applications associated with the operations and functionality of law enforcement
    • Coordinates and monitors sequences associated with the implementation and enforcement of municipal by-laws
    • Co-ordinates and controls key dimensions and requirements associated with the delivery of awareness and educational programmes on   law enforcement to the community in collaboration with the immediate superior
    • Co-ordinates tasks/activities associated with controlling subordinate personnel performance, productivity, and discipline
    • Disseminates information on outcomes, current developments, problems, and constraints, and/or presents educational material on law enforcement
    • Coordinates specific administrative and reporting requirements associated with the key performance and result indicators of the functionality

    Driver Operator: Digger Loader (REF: TEC 291)

    Requirements:

    • Grade 10 (Proof of relevant School or Institution must be attached)
    • Valid Code EC1 driver’s license and PRPD.
    • A Valid Digger Loader Certificate.
    • 3 years of relevant experience.
    • Good supervision, human relations, interpersonal, and communication skills.
    • Sound mathematical and technical skills, ability to give attention to detail, and a high level of responsibility.

    Duties:

    • Perform specific tasks and activities at the Depot and work sites prior to and on completion of allocated maintenance assignments
    • Receive instructions from the immediate superior and communicate with the Depot Clerk to establish details of tasks regarding the vehicle, material, and personnel
    • Inspect safety devices, controls, lubricant levels, etc., on vehicles and heavy plants, and report defects to immediate superiors.
    • Complete   internal transactional   documentation (e.g., tally sheets, log sheets, progress reports, etc.) and related forms (vehicle checklist)
    • Insert the relevant information (quantitative/ qualitative) and/or details of activities on the forms.
    • Forward to the relevant personnel for processing
    • Perform specific tasks associated with the operations of a heavy, specialized mechanical plant.
    • Communicate with the Supervisor on-site and confirm requirements and specifications.
    • Control the utilization of materials (sand, stone, crusher run, etc.)   and discharging (offloading) required quantities of materials for repair or reconstruction work.
    • Prior to leaving the municipal premises, carry out the following pre-trip inspection
    • Keep a log of machine hours worked for costing purposes
    • Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to and that protective clothing is worn
    • Provide in-job training to new personnel to ensure instructions are carried out correctly
    • Determine training needs and address workplace problems experienced with the immediate superior
    • Ensure that safety is paramount and that all personnel are safe during loading and offloading sequences

    Senior Foreman (Facilities, Maintenance and Parks) (REF: COM 149)– CERES

    Requirements:

    • Grade 12
    • Computer literate (MS Applications)
    • 3-5 Years of relevant experience.
    • A valid Code B Drivers' licence with PRDP.
    • Good human relations, interpersonal, and communication skills.

    Duties:

    • Supervise and coordinate the work sequences of personnel at open spaces, parks and sports fields (including amenities) in Ceres, Hamlet and Op die Berg.
    • Coordinate the cleaning and maintenance duties according to maintenance schedules.
    • Maintain fair distribution of operational resources and labour for each subsection.
    • Arrange and recommend appropriate working tools or equipment.
    • Provide   advice   and   direction   to   subordinate   personnel regarding Council's short-, medium- and long-term strategies regarding public open spaces.
    • Plan and organize maintenance schedules in preparation of parks, sports fields and common grounds so that maximum use is obtained.
    • Conduct preparation sequences related to the cutting of grass.
    • Supervise all maintenance work (e.g.:  grass cutting, litter picking) carried out at rivers to ensure the preservation of water sources in the municipal area.
    • Supervise the application of maintenance schedules for all areas of responsibility.
    • Ensure   that   machinery   and   vehicles   are   cleaned   and maintained, and in good working condition (e.g. tractors, brush cutters, pitch rollers, slashers, blower mowers).
    • Ensure that equipment and machinery are use according to safety regulations and that protective equipment is used.
    • Supervise the conducting of minor repairs on equipment and provide training to personnel in caring for equipment.
    • Liaise   with   the   immediate   superior   with   regard   to   the maintenance required on vehicles and equipment.
    • Undertake inspections to ensure that all maintenance activities have been carried out in an acceptable manner and according to standards.
    • Ensure that community are provided with an efficient service.
    • Ensure that maintenance operations are carried out according to schedule in all areas of responsibility.
    • Provide all relevant staff with protective clothing and explain the necessity to wear and use it.
    • Ensure that staff adhere to health and safety regulations as contained in the Act.
    • Ensure the erection of safety or warning signals I boards at all working sites.
    • Conducting pre-driving inspections; Checking levels of oil, water and tyres.
    • Report breakages to the superintendent.
    • Ensuring that the vehicle has been filled with diesel or petrol and ready to be utilised for operational use and oversee general maintenance of the vehicle.
    • Maintain adequate stock levels for cleaning and maintenance work and Monitor and supervise the usage of materials.
    • Calculate stock and report low levels that need replenishing to the immediate superior.
    • Order and purchase cleaning material and   maintenance material as approved by the immediate superior.
    • Submit feedback and reports to the immediate superior on work related matters in the area of responsibility.
    • Carry out inspections at amenities at sports fields to check on any repairs that need to be carried out.
    • Report any breakages to the immediate superior and include defects in reports.
    • Check that check lists have been completed after functions by the Caretaker.
    • Obtain quotations for items needed and submit it to the immediate superior for further attention.
    • Plan and organize maintenance and preparation of sport fields so that maximum use of sports grounds is obtained.
    • Ensure that sporting facilities are clean and safe for public use Ensure the maximum use of the fields through proper maintenance and appearance.
    • Prepare the sport fields including cricket pitch for use and put out markings as requested.

    • Submit incident reports on specific incidents experienced
    • Performs specific tasks associated with the operations of mechanical plant (Front End Loader, Digger Loader) and construction vehicles (Tip Truck, Water Truck, etc.) during maintenance and construction activities
    • Communicating with the supervisor on-site and confirming requirements/ specifications.
    • Controlling the handling of materials including Sand; Stone; Crusher run, etc
    • Prior to leaving the municipal premises, carry out the following pre-trip inspection: Check the engine water for possible radiator leaks; Check the engine and gearbox oil levels for correct levels; Check  all  hydraulic  couplings,  pipes  and  fluids  for possible leaks; Check all links; Check all grease nipples; Check that all levers are in a working condition; Check the machine for overall defects and damage; Check all the lights and indicators to be functional and in a working order; Start  the machine and check all gauges to  be in working condition

    • B- Tech:  Environmental Science / Environmental Management / other related qualification.
